WE ARE THE FUTURE, February 6, 2003
This review is from: Punk Invasion (Audio CD)
I've been a Total Chaos fan ever since the first time I heard Pledge Of Defiance. I recently got the opportunity to see these guys at Club Xanth in San Diego on the "Booze Brigade Tour" with Lower Class Brats, and I was totally blown away. It was at this show that I decided to buy Punk Invasion.
In many ways it's a combination between Pledge Of Defiance and Anthems From The Alleyway, while at the same time it explores some new sonic territory that Total Chaos has never really touched on before. Tracks like "Fully Loaded", "Murdered", and "War in LA" recall the Hardcore energy of "Pledge...", while "In Unity", "Time To Go", and "In Your Face" have more of the old school Oi! qualities of "Anthems...". Some of the best tracks on this album, namely "D.U.I.", "Tomorrow", and "Radio Tokyo", were written by the bands new bassist Todd Trash(vocalist/guitarist of The Mistakes). They also do some excellent covers of "Sex And Violence"(the Exploited)and "We're Not Gonna Take It"(Twisted Sister).
If you've never heard Total Chaos before this might be a good album to start with. From there you can decide if you like their Hardcore or their Oi! better.
