The punk scene in 1976,1977,1978..it shows alot of good unusual pictures from then! Early photos from bands like X, The Germs, Screamers, The Weirdos and the Go Go's, K-Roq radio, the first wave of L.A. punk.
I wish it covered the early 80s punk scene, homeless street punks in Hollywood and The Plugz! I wish it showed pictures of the location where the clubs used to be...such as the Masque, Madame Wong's, the Starwood, Club 88, Stardust Ballroom. But it doesn't.
But the book is still good anyway! Jenny Lens did a good job! Maybe she'll come out with a Part 2 covering the second wave L.A. punk scene in the 80s??
If you grew up there in L.A. (like I did!!) then this book is for you!!! Get it!
Not only do you get Jenny's Iconic Pictures, you get some Personal anecdote's of her Insider's time in the scene. I talked once on the phone with her for over Two hours! We talked about it All & the Stories in the Book are the same to what she told me, 3 years earlier! before she could even Think about Making the Book! More is Coming!
Her Genuine Enthusiasm for the Scene & its Music & bands comes Right on through! Just Buy it!
