You've tried the rest, now try the best...,

I have listened to all of the Punk-O-Ramas, One through Seven, and have been thoroughly impressed by most of them. However, this particular POR is the best. 28 tracks, and only one doesn't belong (Refused, but that's just becuase it's not remotely punk). That is a remarkable accomplishment for any compilation, and what makes this one better is that all the other songs just plain rock. All the songs, apart from the refused, are worth the six bucks I paid for this while looking for checkered shoelaces and whale hightops in Zumiez. The second best part of this CD is that I bought it new for the price I usually pay for used CD's at my favorite used music (vinyl through plastic) stores. The best part of this CD is that I was able to discover some new bands which really rock. I listen to this CD while taking math tests, riding my lovely city's public transportation system, talking with friends, doing homework, researching stuff for my college-prep classes, balancing chem equations or even sleeping. It's that good. I won't tell you which tracks are best, that duty is left up to the individual listener, but my favorites are spread all over, from NOFX to Millencolin to New Bomb Turks to Agnostic Front, with many in between...I genuinly love to listen to this CD. I definetly think this is better than the latest release, POR 7. Buy it if you have the money...It's worth it.

Punk o licious,

Punk rock will never die, and Punk O Rama 5, the latest installment in the long running Epitaph series, is living proof of that. From the first frenzied drum roll to the final jaw-jarring power chord, #5 proudly waves the banner of punk rock for all to see.To my delight, Punk O Rama 5 raises the already high standard set by its predecssors. That's because this album gives fans of punk music more of what they love most: punk music! The CD features 28 of the genre's favorite outfits - everyone from the rawkin' Rancid to the ska-influenced Voodoo Glowskulls - and clocks in at an amazing 74 minutes in length! The musicianship exhibited by these artists has improved tenfold over previous Punk O Ramas as well. There's not a sour note or a mislaid drum beat to be found. And I kid you not, there are no disposable tracks! What's more, Punk O Rama 5 also features previously unreleased cuts from NOFX ("Pump up the Valuum"), Guttermouth ("Secure Horizons"), and my personal favorite, All's "Problematic." What's not to love about this album? If you love punk, like punk, or have even remotely considered tolerating punk, then this album is for you! Awwwww right!

Best Comp Ever!,

I bought 7 first, and that one is cool, but this is awsome!!! Best songs are: ALL, Millencolin, Vision, Rancid, Osker, Dwarves, 98 Mute, Dropkick Murphys, Pennywise. The others are cool too. This one is the best. Next would be 4, 1, 7, 6. Skip the others. Also check out warped tour cds. They are cool too. RANCID's Song on here is the best! The Dropkick Murphys song Goodrats sounds a little different from the original but then again it is the demo version, but that still doesn't mean its bad. It totally rocks. Buy this CD or I'll shave your mohawk!Dude, I hope you know I'm just joking.

The Best Punk-O-Rama Ever,
By A Customer
This review is from: Punk-O-Rama 5 (Audio CD)
i have all 7 punk-o-rama's, and this is definitely the best. as always, the CD has a great song by NOFX. the millencolin song was addictive. this band called vision made what was perhaps the best song on the album. guttermouth, recently signed from nitro, featured a great song from their new album. osker, who have unfortunately broken up after an interesting career that ended when they could no longer find a drummer, did an awesome song. H20 made one of the best songs, but they no longer feature a hardcore/punk sound. instead, somehow, they have been reduced to pop-punk tatters. madball, practically their brother band, followed H20 up well with a similar sound, but luckily they have not followed their counterparts down the drain. i dunno what refused were on when they wrote their song, but its actually pretty good when you're in the mood for some crazy mix (however, not punk at all). voodoo glow skulls made an interesting little number that is not punk at all either but its still good to listen to (a little corny though). pennywise's song was one of their best ever. the hives song was great (too bad they're not underground anymore - too popular). other good songs were by all, T(I)NC, rancid, dwarves, 98 mute, bouncing souls, satanic surfers, pulley, union 13, new bomb turks, and agnostic front. so as you can see, this cd was the closest to a perfect compilation you will ever find. but there is no such thing as a perfect mix, so you're just gonna have to settle with this cause there will never be anything better. POR5 inspired me to buy CDs by NOFX, guttermouth (i now have every single guttermouth album, including old 7-inches), osker, 98 mute, H20 (unfortunately i bought their new one, not knowing that they had undergone their drastic change. but i got a t-shirt free that says 'PUNK U', so oh well), dropkick murphys, pennywise, pulley, the hives, and agnostic front. now THAT is a good compilation. you must buy it.

Hard, fast, and exhilarating...,

I own Punk O Rama 1, 3, and 5, and out of the three, this CD is by far the best. It has the most recent and varied offerings of American punk music, with punk veterans like Rancid and newer, fresher voices - they are all great, especially Agnostic Front (New York, baby!) in Riot, Riot Upstart. I am usually a harsh criticizer but I must say there isn't a single thing about this CD that I would like to change. The best part is, there's almost 30 tracks for under five bucks! If you're a lover of punk-rock, or you just like to "dabble" in a variety of music, you will LOVE (and I assure you when I say LOVE I mean absolutely, entirely, completely, and wholly LOVE, ADORE, ADMIRE, and WORSHIP) this CD! It's a great gift for your punk friends, has a perfect mix of hardcore punk to pop-like, bouncy tunes, it's full of anger, emotion, fierceness, and the raw beauty of pure talent, and believe me, I oughta know!

And it't not even worth that. The Puke-O-Rama is terrible. Out of the 28 songs there are maybe three good ones. There are some ok bands on here, but they sure picked some crappy songs from those bands. This CD is filled with poser punks and a bunch of pop punk. Spend your money elsewhere.

The BEST Punk-O-Rama Cd Ive heard!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Punk-O-Rama 5 (Audio CD)
Ive heard 4, 5 , 6 and this one is the best one. Songs Like Pump Up The Valium , Slow Motion Riot , 1.80 down , Panic , Riot Riot Upstart , and Good Rats make this cd a classic. And for only 5 dollars you can own some of the best modern punk rock. I usually only listen to classic punk but this made me realize that modern punk rock is good too. Get this and you wont be dissapointed!

I was a little skeptical when I first bought this cd because I didn't recognize some of the bands. I was pleasantly surprised to find that for the most part this is a great compilation album that spans many of the punk genres. One of the weak points in my opinion, was the VooDoo Glowskulls contribution...it seemed like it didn't suit the rest of the album. But all in all this album is great...fun to workout to....and you can't beat the price.

Great Launching Pad,
By Gary Pearn (Wellington, New Zealand) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Punk-O-Rama 5 (Audio CD)
I bought this CD second-hand in New Zealand as it was cheap & enabled me to get a snapshot of some bands I hadn't previously heard of. Trapped in the old school of punk (Descendents, DOA, Dag Nasty, Toxic Reasons et al), I am largely out of touch with the myriad of new material available. However, this CD was excellent (save track 15 - 5m 45s of self-absorbed piffle that's about as punk as Bombfunk MC's) & I'd have to say that the Pulley track 'Gone' is as good as you'll ever hear, NOFX are their normal class act and All, Millencolin, H2O, Bombshell Rocks & the Dropkick Murphys have all knocked out songs that inspire me to check them out further.
