Wow. Just wow. I'm still listening to this cd and I feel if I stop the world will too. This album is nu-metal. The lyrics are so insanely horrible. Look at the lyrics Orgy used to write for their songs. They were all so akward and clever and just down-right awesome. These are sobby heartache songs. I don't understand how you do that.

What happened to Orgy? The only good songs are Vague and The Obvious. That's about it. And please don't scream Jay. Please.

1.0 out of 5 stars Orgy died, December 29, 2004

I enjoyed Candyass and VP and was excited to hear they put out a new CD.......yeah. Well, the new record is terrible. Musically, they have turned into another nu-metal band. Lyrically, they have turned into another nu-metal band. Jay Gorden writes cliche' lyrics that are not clever and the rest of the band plays mediocre music. They have lost their uniqueness.

Then again, some people seem to really like this record. If you enjoy bands like Linkin Park, new Korn, Staind, and bland nu-metal bands, this is the record for you.

The guitars pound more than ever, and the drums and bass keep it all in line as always, while Jay's vocals pilot this flight through a tempest. I definately don't recommend this cd, I ORDER YOU, to go out and buy it, because it is worth every cent.
As far as the tracks go:

Beautiful Disgrace (8/10): A different but good start, I was ready for some goofy intro thing like on Vapor Transmission, but they pulled through it

Vague (9/10): Well written and performed, what can I say

Ashamed (8/10): Doesn't stand out over anything else, but it still rocks out.

Make Up Your Mind (8/10): This is a slower song, but its still easy on the ears.

Leave Me Out (9/10): Just when you think, "hmm another slow song..." they change it up.

The Obvious (10/10): Quite possibly the song I anticipated hearing the most, and by far the best new song I've heard for a while. Needless to say, I wasn't let down.

Inside My Head (9/10): Catchy bass/guiter line, and great lyrical writing.

Pure (7/10): Shorter, intro a lil' unneeded, but still a good track.

Can't Take This (10/10): A perfect ending to a great release.

For 9 tracks I was worried about length/content. But it is still 37:35 and that is just as long as a Linkin Park cd, with quadruple the content.

1.0 out of 5 stars Punk Static Dissapointment, June 10, 2005

To begin I must say that I liked Candyass and deeply enjoyed Vapor Transmission. And (not to seem like I'm comparing this album to those cd's) Punk Static Paranoia for an Orgy fan such as my self was a huge let-down. It has been four years since the last album and when they do return, they are singing colorless, boring, and poorly written songs. The sound is different, something similar to Linkin Park, but still with the Orgy/synth-pop-rock sound. The new style isn't that bad, but it doesn't feel genuine at times (and it ends up sounding silly). Don't waste time with this cd unless you are a big fan. The best thing about the new Orgy cd is that it was released, making Orgy fans hopeful for future releases/tours. Sorry Orgy, maybe next time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Album But 9 Songs, Teaser!, February 26, 2004

(REAL NAME)

This album has many many diffrent asspects to it than Vapor Transmission and Candyass did. It sounds at first as though its going to be more "poppy", but after listing to it several times you start to hear the similarities to Vapor Transmission and especially Candyass. And lets face it, bands do progress people and try new things (or we would all be in platform shoes with disco balls and fros.)
The album starts with "Beautiful Disgrace" which does sound a bit like many other things (touches of Godhead even came to mind) but came back to Candyass with distorted guitars and charictaristic Orgy bass riffs.
"Vague" has an awsome chorus and really hints at the earlier albums and points where Orgy could go.
"Ashamed" kind of is Candyass esque' with heavy bass and distorted background vocals like in Vapor Transmission.
"Make Up Your Mind" is a mix of melodic and semi hard guitars and classic Jay Gordon vocals. Very reminicent of Candyass in the softer parts.
"Leave Me Out" has an awsome rythm to it and keeps you listing. From its interesting opening to its instrumental parts, it has a diffrent flavor than many are used to. This is a very progressive song in many ways and orgy pulls it off.
"The Obvious" is quite possibly the best song on the album in my opinion because it comes the closest to the good ol' 1998 days of Orgy. With its errie background vocals and synthed out guitars, it is obvious that this song was produced by Jay.
"Inside My Head" is right up there with The Obvious as Orgy trys some new vocal work and throws in a bit of influence from the olden days.
"Pure" starts with a little resemblece to Tool or A Perfect Circle and then quickly jumps right off of that and goes right back into the music that you would expect from Orgy with an awsome chorus.
"Cant Take This" is the most mainstream in vocals on the album (in sound at times, yelling that isnt charictaristic of Orgy) but has the bands charictaristic gutiar and Jay voice shifts that help the song out.
All in all, a great album, but only 9 songs?? I waited over 3 years guys :). Hopefully this is the catalyist that the band needs to get them back in to the music scene. With D1 music started, mabye we will see some more albums coming out soon...? Make it soon, because this album makes me want new Orgy already.

2.0 out of 5 stars Uh oh., December 26, 2004

This review is from: Punk Statik Paranoia (Audio CD)
Although I haven't been an Orgy fan for too long (2 years), I still think I'm entitled to say that Punk Statik Paranoia was less than good.

I read someone else's review and they referred to the newer sound being somewhat similar to that of Nine Inch Nials, which I think is way off. Orgy definitley sounded like NIN on Candyass and still a bit on Vapor transmission, and to be honest, I really love Trent Reznor's music. But on PSP they edged away from that, their dark apocolyptic cyber goth sound gone for good.

As for the album, I heard "Beautiful Disgrace" and thought I had put a Linkin Park song onto one of my mix CD's by accident, literally. I understand that Jay helped out with Reanimation, but Linkin Park's sound should stay theirs and Orgy should really dust off the synthesizers and bring back the industrial.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome, April 15, 2004

I've waited four years since their last cd, and i'm definately impressed with what I got. Though Punk Statik Paranoia is their shortest album yet, it's also without a doubt their most mature, and their best album so far. This cd has had a lot of thought put inot it, which is made clear by the more personal song lyrics. Also, Jay Gordon's vocal abilities amaze me. The range he's put on this album is amazing. The screaming that is added every now and then adds to the emotion put into this album. Like i said earlier, it is their most mature and their best album yet.

3.0 out of 5 stars They should have changed their name...because this is no 'Orgy' CD, March 7, 2006
This review is from: Punk Statik Paranoia (Audio CD)
So it's dissed by fans of the bands first two albums becasue this is far from the type of band they were. The thing is that if this album where released by any other band it wouldn't be dissed as much, because it's not that awful, it's just not Orgy. It's way too mainstream nu-metal to be concidered as an Orgy album. "BEAUTIFUL DISGRACE" is actually a pretty decent song, heavy and straighforward, a little to rappy on the first verse, kinda like some of the tracks of Disturbed's first album. "VAGUE" was the single that no one heard becasue it's not like this album got any radio play. It's not bad, but they lost any respect with the "clock goes tick-tock tick-tock" so sorry guys, I had to skip through...even though the chorus is pretty kick@$$. "ASHAMED" is the best song here. The opening sounds like a remastered track off Coal Chambers first album, gritty and dark yet with better production, and then it turns into something that you could have heard off of 'Vaper Transmission'...still doesn't touch anything off of 'Candy@$$'. "LEAVE ME OUT" could have easily been the best song here...the chorus is catchy and pretty cool, but Jay's 'Adema-like' rapping is annoying. I like the beat and the feel of "INSIDE MY HEAD" and Jay's vocals are probably the best here on this track than any other on the album. "PURE" is decent, way to catchy and melodic, way to 'rock and roll' to ever be mistaken for Orgy, but I like the song for what it is. It's a pretty good 'rock' song. "CAN'T TAKE THIS", the closer, starts off dreadfully with some computer voice repeating "can't take this no more"...it's almost like the band said "oh crap, we're a techno-glam-rock band, we need to add some computers for at least one track here" and so they did. It's not terrible...I like the verse, but it's not great and thus serves as a lukewarm ending to a very up in the air album. First of all theres only 9 tracks, so in that case you have to bring it to every track...like Staind did on their debut. Every track was perfect. Here, while some are good, there really are none that stand out as great. The other problem is that Orgy had a fan base, a base that loved them for what they did best and with this album they lost most of their fans, but because of poor advertising they didn't gain any new fans either. Like I said, if this album were released by another band it may have been well recieved, but coming from Orgy, it just doesn't stack up.

3.0 out of 5 stars Punk Statik Paranoia, January 8, 2005
This review is from: Punk Statik Paranoia (Audio CD)
There was a point in time when people wondered if Orgy would ever release an album again. Indeed, the band had seen a lot of changes since the release of Vapor Transmission, the biggest of which being the decision to leave their home at Elementree to become the major act of singer Jay Gordon's D1 Music label. And yet here on the long-awaited Punk Statik Paranoia, we do not see the result of four years of absence from the music scene, but instead a veritable mishmash of quality over the course of nine songs, a weak effort for any band worth their salt. Although Orgy's Punk Statik Paranoia has a lot of enjoyable moments, it's a little hard to completely ignore the fact that Jay Gordon's lyrics have become fairly juvenile and cliched while the songs themselves seem to run on for far too long. When compared to their prior releases, it's definitely a better and more listenable effort than Candyass, but it falls very short of living up to Vapor Transmission in quality, leaving it squarely in the middle. In Orgy's case, the middle might not be very comfortable at this juncture.

4.0 out of 5 stars The best Orgy album so far., April 19, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Punk Statik Paranoia (Audio CD)
PSP is a focused effort and it shows. The first thing I noticed is that the lyrics are far more coherent and meaningful than on the first two albums. Jay Gordon is to be appreciated for his lyrical sense of detachment, but Candyass and Vapor Transmission were too existential for most people to grasp, and more importantly, relate to and enjoy. On PSP, the lyrics are signature Gordon, but they are focused, more vibrant, solid, and empathic. The second thing noticed is that Orgy has greatly expanded their boundaries as a band. The music is still, sonically speaking, very much the goth-glam-industrial synthed out sound that makes Orgy what it is, but the way in which it is executed sets this record ahead of its predecessors. Each song on the album has been crafted carefully and each song sounds unique from the others. Unlike Candyass, there is no point in the record in which the listener feels he has been short-changed by repetition. Unlike Vapor Transmission, the songs fit together crisply to form an incredibly enjoyable whole that is not lacking in substance. On a lesser level, the band has extended its reach to include a little more rock and a little less new wave, particularly where vocals are concerned. You may be tempted to think that, during several songs, Gordon has actually invited a friend or two to sing along as background vocals. Surprisingly, Gordon shows that he can yell with the best. And it doesn't sound cliche, fake, or shallow. Don't be alarmed though - this record is every bit as much "Orgy" as the first two. Their signature sound is still there in full force. It's merely been honed and practiced and augmented. If the album has one flaw, it's simply that, after three years of waiting, nine songs seems a bit shy of a full set. That is however, a forgiveable shortcoming given the quality of every song on the record. Cheers to Orgy for a great release, and here's hoping for a lot more in the future.
