Puppet Master - LEGACY,
By Deanmozzer (Los Angeles, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Puppet Master: The Legacy (DVD)
Let me sum this up for you in as short a space as possible:Be FOREWARNED: This is not a full-length movie. It is a regurgitation of the previous REAL installments of the series. I am being generous with 2 stars only for the fact that most of the rest of the original series is either unavailable or very hard to obtain on DVD. It is for this reason alone that you may find it worthwhile to buy this 'story'. Even so, it is not really worth more than 6 bucks new. It can bring back pleasant memories if you have been a casual fan of the series and are willing to check these out on DVD technology. It does however, raise the question as to why the rest of the series has not been released yet or is easily available. The Full Moon trailers advertise other 80's gems such as DOLLS amongst others that should be and have no business not being on DVD...or at least available on here or your average DVD store. Overall, I would say that if you are an ardent fan of the series, you may spend your time better watching something else. If you dig killer doll/puppet movies from the golden age of 80's horror, and haven't really gotten into this series as much as you wish you could, then pay the least amount for this as possible. I really wish I could say that it can hold you over for widely-released official versions of all the films, but I just can't.

A Huge Disappointment!,
By fullcircledave "fullcircledave" (Buffalo, NY USA) - See all my reviews

Do any of these reviews actually refer to "Puppet Master : Legacy"? This was a terrible movie. As a fan of the Puppet Master series, I was greatly disappointed. This is nothing but clips of the old movies loosely strung together as some unidentified spy character tries to learn the Puppet Master's secrets. The movie, if you can call it that, is also a mere one hour and eleven minutes, with no bonus features on the DVD. If anything, this is just an extended promotion for the seven original films. I wish Full Moon would buy back the rights to their original Puppet Master films and release them properly on DVD. This poor hack-job of recycled movie clips is just awful.

Legacy isn't on par with previous Puppet Master movies,
By MovieMaven (Karloffornia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Puppet Master: The Legacy (DVD)
Most of the reviews on here seem to be for the original Puppet Master. I agree that the first movie was great fun (I enjoyed the first seven films in the series actually) but this review is for Puppet Master Legacy which is the 8th film in the series.Part 8 isn't as much fun as the previous films. Puppet Master fans may find themselves dissapointed with Part 8/Legacy because it's a "clip show" that uses clips from the previous 7 films! That's right - 95% of Puppet Master Legacy is flashbacks to previous Pupet Master films! It seems that Charles Band has fallen on hard times. Too bad. I'm a big fan of Band's previous work. I know he has a new one called Dr Moreau's House of Pain but the rest of his recent releases are retreads of previously shot footage. Thus in Puppet Master Legacy we get a few minutes of new footage involving a woman with a gun questioning the adult Peter, from part III, about Andre Toulon's secret and the rest of the film is all stock footage from Puppet Master 1 -7. The heavy use of flashbacks ALMOST works but ultimately the movie doesn't deliver. Legacy might be OK if you go into it knowing that it's far from a new Puppet Master entry and if you haven't seen the previous Puppet Master films in quite some time. As a "clip show" it's fine but it's not what most fans of the series are looking for. Fans of the series who have seen the previous films many times will more than likely fail to find this entry particularly entertaining since they have seen 95% of this film before. The new cast (all two of em) are fine and there are far worse ways to spend a rainy Saturday afternoon in front of the tube than watching Puppet Master Legacy - but that's the highest praise I can give this one. I've enjoyed the 7 previous Puppet Master films a great deal though - so hell I'll be kind to this one and give it 2 1/2 stars. Fortunately there's a 9th Puppet Master on the horizon! Sci Fi Channel will be showing Puppet Master vs Demonic Toys in December! We've been waiting forever for this so lets hope it's a good one. Even if it isn't Im perfectly happy with my DVD set of Puppet Master 1 -7 so I can't complain. Thanks for the fun Charles Band! I wish you the best with your future film projects and will be checking out Dr Moreau's House of Pain in the near future. Keep the faith Puppet-heads! Puppet Master vs Demonic Toys is coming! Meanwhile: Take a look at Puppet Master 1- 7, pop some corn, enjoy a cold drink, kick back, and enjoy!

The End? Sad For So Many Reasons.,
By
This review is from: Puppet Master: The Legacy (DVD)
You know that feeling you get when your favorite show that's been on for years ends with a clip show? Yeah that sucks doesn't it? "Puppet Master Legacy" takes this idea and applies it in movie form. The continuity of this series has always been horribly skewed so I was interested to see how they tied everything together. I suppose they did a fairly good job, at least it seems to make sense. Although the explanation as to how Leech Woman died and then showed back up three movies later in perfect condition was still not touched upon. Darn, I was hoping that was at least one loose end they'd tie up! I understand Full Moon barely had the budget to buy a Big Mac in the later years of thier movies. Heck I'm not even sure they exist anymore! But they at least were still in buisness last year (2003) because they churned out this blasfemous piece of garbage. I will say that I'm glad the puppets (kind of) got an ending. But I wanted to see them work toward it, not sit passively by while the latest puppet master and some spy chick relived moments from the last seven movies. Not to mention the movie only lasted an hour and ten minutes AND there were no extras on the dvd. It's sad that such a great francise had to deteriorate completely before it was laid to rest. R.I.P. Puppet Master. At least Full Moon can no longer bastarize your name.

Just a Compilation/Spoiler Movie,
This review is from: Puppet Master: The Legacy (DVD)
My title says it all. If you haven't seen the other movies in the series (especially 3!!!) then please OH PLEASE!!! for your sake don't watch this. Its just a compilation of the greatest kills and moments that will spoil the other movies somewhat IF you watch this first. ALL THIS MOVIE IS, IS A GIANT SPOILER...........its a shame full moon felt like cashing in on their devoted fans one more time before calling the puppet master series quits.... considering by the end credits, they thought this movie would be the last in the series.Excuse My Poor Grammer Robert Keith

THE LEGACY HAS BEEN TOLD...AND TOLD... AND....,
By Tom C. (New York City, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Puppet Master: The Legacy (DVD)
The fact that this movie has the tagline "THE LEGACY HAS BEEN TOLD" is hilarious to me only because anyone who has seen the previous movies, in particular "Puppetmaster 3", has already seen this movie. If you buy this DVD, you are wasting your money.1. The movie only runs 1 hour and 11 mintues 2. Out of that 1 hour and 11 mintues, there's about 7 minutes of new material that wraps around the scenes of the previous movies. 3. Why would anyone who loves the Puppetmaster series appreciate "The Legacy" at all? Even for completists like me, this is a very hard sell. I would like to think this is not this series' swan song. If it is, it went out on a whimper. Tom C.
