5.0 out of 5 stars PUPPET MASTER II IS A TRUE HORROR!, February 10, 2002
This review is from: Puppet Master 2 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I saw this about 15 times and I love it.The Puppets are cool and evil and the wicked Puppet Master returns from the grave!
With hit music from the first movie and a hot cast this is a Puppet Master film that kicks butt!

4.0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT, THOUGH NOT AS GOOD AS THE FIRST OR THIRD!, October 1, 2005

In this sequel to the 1989 'B movie, "Puppet Master", Steve Weeles takes the role of Andre Toulon, who's been brought back to life by his puppets! This time, a group of professionals in the study of the paranormal have come to the Bodega Bay Inn to investigate the events that took place in the first film. Little do they know that Toulon's puppets are still running rampant, killing anyone and everyone who they meet up with! Along the way, they collect brain tissue for a serum in order for them and their master to live forever!

Meanwhile, Toulon finds an interest in young, Carolyn Bramwell (Elizabeth Maclellan) since she resembles a fair amount of his wife, Elsa Toulon, who was murdered during WWII. Now, Carolyn must escape from the Boedga Bay Inn and Toulon's clutches before it's too late!

Definately a well done follow-up to the original film and one of the best in the series! However, it isn't quite as good as the original "Puppet Master" or even, "Puppet Master III: Toulon's Revenge"! On the other hand, we DO get to see the return of favorites: Tunneler, Pin Head, Leech Woman, Blade, and the newest addition, Torch, a puppet made of metal with the ability to breathe fire at unsuspecting victims! (The scene with the Torch and the little kid is one of the funniest I've seen) What's also nice about "Puppet Master II" is that it carries the same style to horror and suspense as the original and some of the death scenes are a bit better! But keep in mind, if you're in the mood for an academy award winner, look elsewhere! Like all the movies in the 'Puppet Master' series, "Puppet Master II" is a solid 'B movie, though it manages to entertain and keep you scared! Recommended to all horror fans!

5.0 out of 5 stars They're Back. No Strings Attached!, February 28, 2002

You can't keep a good man down or a Puppet Master buried as Tunneler, Leech Woman, Pin Head, and the rest of the puppets return to exhume their beloved creator in Puppet Master II, the sequel to the hit horrorfest, Puppet Master.
This time, the little devils are after the special fluid that keeps them alive, which is only found in...you guessed it...human brains. Lucky for the puppets, a new team of paranormal researchers has come to the hotel to investigate its murder-soaked past. (Don't these guys ever learn?) The puppets-led by a new member, the flame-throwing Torch-are happy to shed some light on the (brain) matter, as they tunnel, burn, strangle and hook to survive.
Featuring the special effects wizardy of Academy Award-nominee David Allen (Young Sherlock Holmes, Willow).

If you loved the first one, you'll love this one! It definitely helps to have seen the original before watching this. It takes off from the stopping point of the original nicely and even introduces a maniacal new puppet----Torch. The puppets are still thoroughly creepy and campy, and there is still a dark sense of humor.

It's very nice NOT to have computer grahpics in this film as you always see today. They had to use old school techniques (and apparently not with a huge budget!) to make this happen, but it works! The human characters are unfortunately not as interesting as the ones in the original, but the puppets hold up the movie.

I haven't seen the others in this series yet, but Part II definitely carries the torch!

I saw this movie a couple of times and I liked it. I thought it was so interesting than a bunch of other movies. I would like to own it someday so I could keep watching it over and over again.
