Chock full of ideas youngsters can use for hours of imaginative play!,
By Kiki B. "The Shepherdess" (Alaska, U.S.A.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Puppet Theatre (Hardcover)
This beautifully illustrated book is filled with creative ways to make puppets and puppet stages out of almost anything. Stockings, socks, vegetables, old rags, egg shells...a wide assortment of items are used to create the characters needed for hours of fun storytelling entertainment. This would be a wonderful resource for the classroom or homeschool, inspiring students to use their imaginations in creating stories & the puppets to go along with them. It is not a storybook itself, but merely instructs the reader in how to go about creating various puppets and puppet stages; as such, it would be more appropriate for the upper elementary or "middle-aged" children. Still, the pictures are beautiful to look at, even for emergent readers, and could spark creativity in and of themselves. I'm certainly glad this book was brought to us from Finland!
