5.0 out of 5 stars Amazingly Good Book!
The lady that wrote this is an RN that has helped countless women deliver babies. She has since become a dog breeder and has now helped save lots of puppies. She not only tells you what equipment you need but will actually sell it to you herself for what I think is a pretty fair price. She even gives you her e-mail address so you can send her questions through her e-mail...

3.0 out of 5 stars Brief book
Although a good book, very brief. I think the author should have added more information on each subject, maybe investigating about the subjets. The author simply wrote her experience with pupies, good but may be complemented.

The lady that wrote this is an RN that has helped countless women deliver babies. She has since become a dog breeder and has now helped save lots of puppies. She not only tells you what equipment you need but will actually sell it to you herself for what I think is a pretty fair price. She even gives you her e-mail address so you can send her questions through her e-mail. This book comes with a DVD that brings to life what she teaches you how to do in the book. All in all this is the only book that has ever made me feel like I will know what to do when I have a crisis with newborn puppies. In the book this lady says you can reduce your mortality rate by 20%! That's a lot! She says the average amount of puppies that die in infancy is 30% and that you can get it down to 10%. This book is so inexpensive that I think you can't afford to NOT buy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must have for Breeders, June 9, 2006
This review is from: Puppy Intensive Care: A Breeder's Guide to Care of Newborn Puppies (Paperback)
If you breed dogs or are thinking of breeding your dog you need to know all of the emergencies that can occur in the middle of the night when no one or no Vet is available....this book will walk you through those problems...it is no nonsense from a gal (an Intensive care RN)that has been there and done that...it also has an informative...step by step... DVD to illustrate how to tube feed a pup and how to give sub Q fluids.
If it saves the life of even one pup...it was more than worth the price of the book.
We use it at our Hospital and recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Puppy Intensive Care - A Must for Breeder Libraries...., April 3, 2007
This review is from: Puppy Intensive Care: A Breeder's Guide to Care of Newborn Puppies (Paperback)
This is the best text I have read in 30 years of dog breeding. Informative and written for the lay-man. The accompanying DVD was frosting on the cake. I would recommend this book for all dog breeders, regardless of experience.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wealth of knowledge, June 6, 2007

This review is from: Puppy Intensive Care: A Breeder's Guide to Care of Newborn Puppies (Paperback)
This is so jampacked with helpful info and handy hints. Her nursing knowledge is obvious with her laid back approach to things that would generally make even the most experienced breeders nervous. The DVD that accompanies this book is invaluable also. The footage of tube feeding, and rehydrating puppies is second to none. She writes confidently and humerously, and explains quite tricky procedures quite simply. This book will help every breeder. The pictures, being photo's are also extremely helpful.

5.0 out of 5 stars KSP Pennsylvania, December 11, 2009
This review is from: Puppy Intensive Care: A Breeder's Guide to Care of Newborn Puppies (Paperback)
As a novice breeder I found this book to be invaluable. I have had it for some time now and referred to it quite frequently with all of my litters. Ms. Savant is a wonderful author and person. I had a pup born with a cleft palate that I didn't have the heart to put down. After tubing him for a week with no significant weight gain, and with other breeders at a loss as to what to do, in desperation I emailed Ms. Savant for help. Not only did she return my email within an hour, she gave me a high calorie recipe for him. He started gaining weight and is now a happy, normal puppy living with his new family! Thank you Ms. Savant.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Have Book in the Whelping Room, July 31, 2008

This review is from: Puppy Intensive Care: A Breeder's Guide to Care of Newborn Puppies (Paperback)
Myra once again covers topics that are not addressed in other books on breeding and whelping. If you want to give a weak pup a chance to go BIS someday, this is the book for you. The DVD at the back of the book is a superior visual aide in teaching how to tube feed, etc. Lots of room for notes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Puppy Intensive Care - Myra Savant-Harris, February 13, 2008
This review is from: Puppy Intensive Care: A Breeder's Guide to Care of Newborn Puppies (Paperback)
If there is any one book that any breeder, whether it is an occasional family pet or professional breeder, this would be the one to have. It goes into details and is easily understood. It contains information that may save a puppies life. I have had my book for sometime and recently ordered one for my grandson. He lost an entire litter which I believe could have been saved if he had read this book.

Puppy Intensive Care: A Breeder's Guide to Care of Newborn Puppies
I am an RN and also a dog breeder and I found this information essential. I especially like the organization and I could use it easily to make a shopping list of things I needed to add to my whelping area. I found most of the items by shopping Ebay for deals as suggested too. A must if you have fading puppy syndrome problems.

This book is a must for every breeder. Unlike many books that tell you to call the vet, this book tells you what to do when your vet is not available.
