Puppy Love: Raise Your Dog the Clicker Way,
By A Customer
This review is from: Puppy Love (DVD)
Karen Pryor, a behavioral biologist and a former dolphin trainer, demonstrates how to build a great family dog by using a thumb sized clicker to reinforce positive behavior. Asserting that puppies get too m uch freedom too soon, Pryor recommends a program which limits a young dog's range early on and focuses on frequent grooming and handling, while using the clicker in conjunction with an edible reward to encourage desirable behavior. This is a training video which emphasizes positive methoods over choke chains, spankings and other militaristic solutions. It even comes with its own clicker.

Thin on instruction,
By A Customer
This review is from: Puppy Love (DVD)
This video was not a good value for the price. It is 30 minutes for $.... While I am a huge fan of Karen Pryor and operant conditioning for dog training, I found this to be extremely weak with "how-to's". I was very disappointed. The Ian Dunbar video, "Sirius Puppy Training" gives more information and step-by-step, but is a little outdated.

Karen Pryor is great, but THIS IS NOT A DVD!!!!!! Buyer beware!,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Puppy Love (DVD)
I didn't even know there was small print under the seller's name on the used items - I sure regret that. I hardly ever purchase items from third parties, because I use amazon prime, and I don't trust the condition to be up to my standards. But I took a chance because money is really tight.
Boy am I sorry! The fine print, which is in about 7 point font and is almost unreadable by 40 year old eyes, says that this is not, in fact, a DVD as it is listed. It is a VHS. I know the seller is probably going to say I was stupid for not reading that description - I just didn't realize they listed VHS tapes under the format DVD because they are NOT DVDs! They should not be listed as such. I rated this a 5 star because I realize the rating is for Karen Pryor's video, not for Amazon's ambiguity! This is an amazon problem. And it sucks, but the video doesn't. Just make sure before you buy that you read every single character on every single page to make sure you are actually ordering what you think you are. I'll personally never order a used DVD again from Amazon without personally contacting the seller to make sure again.
