About the Author
Kelly Carper Polden is an award-winning communicator with more than 20 years of experience in writing/editing, media and public relations, marketing communications and global events management, primarily working in the healthcare industry. Kelly currently owns a communications consulting business and works for a variety of clients from global medical-related corporations to small veterinary businesses and start-up health enterprises. Kelly is the author a children’s book entitled Puppy Tales: The Adventures of Adam the Australian Shepherd that will be available in late 2007 on www.amazon.com. She is also president and treasurer of the Carper Family Farm Corporation. During her many years in the communications business, Kelly has won numerous awards including a national Clarion Award and an international Sulzer Innovation Award. Kelly is active in the Texas Hill Country community, writing for publications such as the Hill Country Sun, and participating on the board of directors for the Hill Country Children’s Advocacy Center and for the Freelance Austin organization. Kelly lives on a small ranch in the central Texas Hill Country with her husband Howard, her rescued dog Adam, her rescued cat Bordeaux, two rescued horses named Ace and Durango, and Cody, a little Paint horse that is in training for endurance trail racing. In addition to horseback riding, Kelly is an active distance trail runner and took second place in her age group in the January 2007 25 kilometer Bandera Trail Race. She is also a avid, long-distance cyclist.
