I have received the book in the mail and haven't read it to my kids yet, but I read it myself. I just could not help myself and before I knew it, I was crying. It is a very nice, touching book that teaches about companionship and love. I would highly recommend it, I can't wait to read it to my kids!

This is a truly touching, endearing, and enjoyable children's book about a lonely puppy who wants a boy of his own. It is very well illustrated. My students enjoyed the twist on the the usual 'boy wants a puppy' plot. Wonderful, happy ending. I used this story as a springboard for story writing in my classroom. The book inspired my second graders to create stories such as The Kitten Who Wanted a Girl, The Kangaroo Who Wanted a Boy, The Koala Who Wanted a Girl, etc. This is a wonderful book for children to read independently (ages 7-10) or as a read-aloud (ages 2-10). This would be a great addition to a child's personal library. An additional perk is the bargain price!

This was one of my favorite books when I was little, it's so cute it's almost disgusting (it's not, though!). The illustrations are very well done, as well as the whole idea of the story itself. A great children's book for the holidays, or any other day for that matter.

Petey was a wonderer that wanted a boy for Christmas. The ending was hilarious! Instead of finding one boy, he found fifty five kids who wanted him. Children who love dogs should buy and read this book.

The Puppy Who Wanted A Boy,By:Jane Thayer,

This review is from: The Puppy Who Wanted a Boy (Paperback)
Today I am going to tell you a little about a book called "The Puppy Who Wanted A Boy"by Jane Thayer. It is about a puppy who wanted a boy for Christmas. So he asks his mother. But his mother said that he must follow only three rules. Which was not to eat up any shoes, leave the bird alone, and to be a good puppy. He does not follow those rules so his mother said no. But as a surprise she went out looking for a boy for her son.But she had no luck. She told her son that she was looking for him to have a boy and no other dogs wanted to give away there boy. So the puppy went off on his own to look for a boy. Now,I cant tell you the end so you might want to read the book and find out the ending. But just to let you know that this is a really good book.

For years, I read this book to my 2 sons, Jake and Jordan. They loved the book and also got a kick out of the fact that I couldn't finish the book ever without tears - happy tears because of the great ending for Petey. Jake and Jordan are older now and 1 week ago we went to a pet store to look at puppies like we often do. In the first cage was... PETEY! We took him home and there was no argument - his name would be Petey. He has the personality and looks just like the puppy in the book. My boys will never forget this book and one I will keep to read to their kids some day.

Good everytime you read it,

I've read this book about a million times over and over and it never will get old. First I love the pictures! The puppy dog is very cute and always reminds me of my old puppy tuffy. The way that the dog really wants a boy and looks everywhere to find the best one is really neat. And the best ending where he finds a home with so many boys and he could't be happier dog. It kindof tells you not to give up because the best thing is out there for you all you need to do is find it and you'll be happy.

My grown children had this book when they were small and I recently ordered it for a grand nephew who got his first puppy for Christmas. I think it's a wonderful story that should be in every child's home collection.
