A reference for Baroque music interpretation,
By Leonardo A. (Italy) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Purcell: The Fairy Queen (Audio CD)
Dantone is first a cembalo player, then a conductor.
This performance demonstrates how a good baroque orchestra, professional soloists, and a precise chorus can play true baroque music with intensity and expression, under the conduction of a real "maestro". Listen, enjoy, keep your breath when the group start playing fast but light, precise but relaxed... The last track is playing, the opera ends, but - what happens? Handclaps?? This perfection was not built in a studio, it is live music!! Compare it to another beautiful interpretation, Chritophers' one(ASIN: B000063TRK). |
