This review is from: Purcell: Victorious Love [Hybrid SACD] (Audio CD)
I do not know what "historically correct" is in Purcell's music, but I assume this is very close. Being a "Purcell novice", I was pleasantly surpised to see this "greatest hits" CD which has "Music For Awhile" and "Man Is For The Woman Made", which I have accompanied on piano. Not really "historically correct". I assume this is, given my previous recordings that I have of Carolyn Sampson in Handel and Mozart. Needless to say I really like her voice and all of this music suits her, and there is plenty of it on this well filled CD. If you want a good cross-section of Purcell's music, this will do nicely.
