Will the Kindle download books from Barnes

You can buy e-books elsewhere (not sure about BN because I haven't bought from them, but I've bought a lot of other e-books elsewhere) and put them into Calibre (free downloadable program) and change them into Kindle format. Provided they do not have DRM on them, which doesn't allow format change. I have changed the format on about 100 books of mine and now can read them on Kindle. It's a tedious process, but I paid for those books and felt like I should be able to read them on my Kindle.
