The Title Says It All!!!!,
By
This review is from: Pure Dynamite (Zebra Romantic Suspense) (Paperback)
Ms. Bach has delivered another page turning read with her latest effort "Pure Dynamite". This was a fast-paced read with plenty of suspense to keep you guessing as to who the bad guy really is, chemistry between our two main characters and enough twists and turns to keep you wondering whether Adam and Renata will have that happily-everafter they both deserve.
Renata is a hard working doctor that works for an urgent care clinic. She is working late one stormy night when a breath- taking stanger knocks on the door claiming to know her. Her stanger is not what he appears, and after sharing one steamy kiss she finds herself held hostage literally by her mystery man. Renata's well ordered life is about to take a turn towards danger and she will have to put her trust in a man she can't help be attracted too, but at the same time is terrified of, that is until he proves that he is not exactly what he seems. Adam has just escaped from jail and he has the company of a loud-mouth punk, named Lyle who has not only managed to get himself shot, but has managed to take a cop down with him. What started out as a simple break out has now led to a shooting and the kidnapping of a beautiful lady doctor. He kissed her to get her cell phone and beeper, but what starts off as a simple kiss disarms him in more ways then one. Now he has to take the lovely and fiesty doctor on the road with him. She has to keep Lyle alive or else. He can't help but begin feeling things for her, and their close quarters don't lessen that draw. He has to keep his act together no matter how bad he wants to let down his guard and make Renata his. Will he be able to keep her safe until its time to tell her the truth about himself, or will matters be taken out of his hands by an evil man that will risk anything to remain free? I'm a huge fan of Ms. Bach and I highly recommend her reads as a very entertaining way to pass the time. Her characters jump off the pages and the chemistry between Renata and Adam is hot. Not because they are constantly jumping into bed together, but instead because of the fact that they aren't. If this is the first time you've ever read Ms. Bach I can guarantee it won't be the last. On the other hand if you've already read her previous titles as I have, you will be anxiously waiting for her to get another one ready for publication! Official Reviewer for www.romancedesigns.com

Yep, it's pure dynamite - yipee!,
By Veronica (England) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Pure Dynamite (Zebra Romantic Suspense) (Paperback)
Pure Dynamite is one of the best books of romantic suspense that I have ever read. It's down to earth, exciting and has interesting well-developed characters. All the action is crammed into a short period of time when Adam kidnaps Renata. Adam is an FBI agent posing as a criminal in order to bring down a vicious crime family. Renata is a doctor and Adam needs her to look after the prisoner he broke out of jail with, the youngest son in the crime family.
The plot is really good, but the characters are better. Adam is protective and possessive towards Renata, and the dangerous situation they find themselves in means that all of his behaviour is realistic and understandable. He doesn't go over the top with the whole alpha male thing either. Renata is fantastic as a heroine. She is brave and resourceful and feminine. She doesn't whine and moan and refuse to eat. She doesn't turn into a raving loony the minute she realises her feelings for Adam. The book was like I believe good romance should be - slick, sexy, fast-paced, characters forced together for a period of time - and voila, romance is served. The book doesn't have flowery descriptions or long angst-filled paragraphs. It is rough n ready, with scalding chemistry (and plenty of respect) between Renata and Adam. Overall this book is pure fun and perfect escapist fiction. I'm sure you'll like this if you enjoy Linda Howard books such as Dream Man / Heart of Fire etc. Highly recommended to romance readers who enjoy romantic suspense. JoAnne

Pure Dynamite is sensational,
By Judy "book reader" (Cincinnati, ohio United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Pure Dynamite (Zebra Romantic Suspense) (Paperback)
Pure Dynamite explodes off the page with suspense, terror and an all-consuming passion.
FBI Agent Adam Duval is deep undercover trying to bring down a homegrown terrorist family. When a prison break with on of the family members goes bad, he is forced to take a doctor hostage. Dr. Renata Curtis was planning a quiet evening at home when she is thrust into a nightmare. Renata has to keep her wits about her in order to survive. Her abductor Adam is not what he seems and against her better judgment, Renata is drawn to Adam. Adam never expected to find a woman like Renata on such a dangerous assignment. He is willing to do anything to keep her safe and get them both out alive. Pure Dynamite is a thrill a minute read. Each page make you want to read faster. The connection between Adam and Renata is scorching. I hope Adam's (aka Jake Ryan) brother Zach gets his own story soon.

A great read...,
This review is from: Pure Dynamite (Zebra Romantic Suspense) (Paperback)
Patiently awaiting another book by Lauren Bach, I wasn't dissapointed with Pure Dynamite. This book will pull you in from the first page and hold you capitaved throughout the last.
Special Agent Adam Duval was only supposed to go undercover in prison for two weeks, at the most. After three months, Adam knew it was time to get out. The only problem was his cellmate had to come with him. Lyle McEdwin is the youngest son of Willy McEdwin who, along with his three sons, are on the FBI's Top 10 Most Wanted list. After a blowout on his last mission, Adam was willing to do anything to get out of "desk duty", even if it meant going to prison. It all seemed to be going well until an off-duty police officer recognized them. In the shootout that followed, Lyle was shot, which meant that his "in" to the McEdwin family could be dying. Since taking him to the hospital was out of the question, Adam took him to a clinic where he finds Dr. Renata Curtis. Little did Renata know that staying to finish her paperwork would change the course of her life. This is a wonderful romantic suspense, it's heavy on the romance and heavy on the suspense, which is just the way I like to have them! The only complaint that I have about this book is that it is too short! I can't wait till Bach's next book is out.

Dynamite is right,

This review is from: Pure Dynamite (Zebra Romantic Suspense) (Paperback)
The suspense in this book will have you quickly turning the pages. The sexual tension between the two main characters is very hot and frustrating at the same time. She thinks he's the bad guy, he's afraid to blow his cover yet the two desperately want one another and must act like they are a couple to keep the recently released sex pervert Lyle from making any advances on her himself.
The plot is filled with action and intrigue. If you are a fan of romantic suspense, you will love this book. There are a few scenes that are extremely memorable, and well worth the read.

Not great, not bad.,
By Janet (Colorado) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Pure Dynamite (Zebra Romantic Suspense) (Paperback)
This was a good and fast read. I liked the slow build up of the lead characters' relationship. The sex scenes, however, were VERY graphic, moreso than a lot of other romance books. The conclusion seemed rushed and was a let down. I feel more could have been put into those scenes. The epilogue was completely out of character from the rest of the book. It seemed as if the author needed to tack it on at the last minute and decided there wasn't any humor in the rest of the book, so why not stick some in here? Didn't work.

Explosive romantic suspense!!!,
By
This review is from: Pure Dynamite (Zebra Romantic Suspense) (Paperback)
Tired of desk duty, FBI agent Adam Duval takes an assignment deep undercover to infiltrate a family of militia by getting close to the youngest son. He doesn't count on being left to linger in prison, and soon talks quarry Lyle McEdwin into joining him in a prison break. Ever the hot head, Lyle gets into a shoot out with an off duty cop, and is injured. Breaking into an intercity clinic, Adam forces Dr. Renata Curtis to tend to Lyle's wounds, then soon kidnaps her to keep Lyle alive while they travel to the lair of the McEdwin family, who appear to have something coming up on the horizon. Renata finds herself full of self-doubts as she tries to resist her attraction to convict Adam, not realizing his true identity.
Yet another home run for Bach - it has it all, romance, intrigue, suspense, and plenty of tension. And with a surprise ending to boot! Definitely recommend checking this one out - you won't be sorry!

Good But Slow,
By Tina D (New York) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Pure Dynamite (Zebra Romantic Suspense) (Paperback)
This was an okay, enjoyable read. Some of my issues I had were with the pacing that tended to slow way down at some points. Almost making it impossible to continue, because at those points I was dying of boredom. For 2/3's of the book the pacing tended to fluctuate enough where when it would pick up, I'd get my hopes up thinking things were going to finally, finally, get interesting. It doesn't though, unfortunately. At least not until the final third. Then things really pick up and start getting good. It almost had me questioning if I was reading the same book!Another issue I had was with the characters. I hated Renata and all the little TSTL moments she had. And she had some doozies, such as trying to stab an armed man with a scalpel with another armed man around the corner, or jumping out of a 2-story window or the big one; climbing in and buckling her seat belt in a car that has a gas leak and a fire after the accident. Really? Really?! I also didn't care for Adam, who's name happens to change at the end of the book (really hate when that happens). I just couldn't really buy into his reasoning behind keeping Renata in the dark about who/what he really is. As for the romance between the two, I didn't believe it. There wasn't much tension there for me. It came off as just a case of Stockholm Syndrome and nothing more. The saving graces were the suspense plot and dialog. Both were done very well. The suspense was great at the end and had the pacing off the charts it was so fast, if only it had been like that the whole book! But that is what made this book enjoyable for me. The plot worked very well. Overall, while the book was okay, I'm happy that I'm done with it.

Heavy on Suspense, Light on Romance,

I bought this book based on the high ratings it has received, but was disappointed. I like romantic suspense, but this had too much suspense and not a lot of romance. Renata is trying not to fall in love with "Adam" because she thinks he is an escaped convict. He kidnaps her at gunpoint and forces her to flee with another escaped convict. It's definitely a relief when she discovers his true identity, but the story is so stressful and tense and the reveal comes so late in the story that by the time it does come around, I'm too stressed out to enjoy it. Then the romantic part at the end is very short. There are some sweet moments, but there are many other better books in the genre out there. I'd pass.

Critical-care doctor thought attractive Hero was her blind date when he shows up at her work very late at night & kissed her. She soon finds out he's an escaped convict & is kidnapping her to aid his brash prison-escapee accomplice from a gunshot wound on the way to accomplice's notorious family, who secret-FBI Hero is actually after.
My 1st Bach book & it was an engaging read. Action scenes were gripping & blended well with the romance. Romance was aided by hot sexual chemistry & love scenes. Recommended. |
