I've used Candex since 2005 to fully control a chronic yeast infection problem that I've had since 2004. In '04 after my gyn 'gave up on me', I took my health into my own hands and went onto a low carb, sugar free diet, and eliminated all processed foods. I also used 'Candida Clear' and several other anti-yeast formulations, both herbal and homeopathic. In addition to this, I used boric acid vaginal capsules, for about 6 months, as the Rx anti-fungals didn't work at all for me. After a year of strict adherance to the yeast-free diet, I was much better, but only by staying on the diet. And I'd become one of those people that no one wanted to have over for dinner! Plus I was missing eating tomatoes, carrots, fruits, etc. So I found Candex online, and decided to try it, even though it was the most expensive single remedy I'd tried w/o prescription. I carefully followed directions, including drinking lots of water. I began with 2 capsules plus a big glass of water one hour before breakfast, often taking this dose when I awoke to pee anytime from 4-6 am. I stopped eating anything after 8 pm at night, so I could take my nighttime 2 capsules anywhere from 10 pm on with another glass of water. I felt fine even after I stopped taking any other herbal supplements.
Then I gradually kept on the same Candex dose, while I re-introduced carbs, especailly fresh veggies and some fruits into my diet. I took my time with this process, about a year to start eating more 'normally'. Much to my amazement, after such a long struggle with yeast, I was able to stay infection-free, even when occasionally eating a sugar-laden dessert with friends. Over the past 5 years, I've gradually reduced my maintenance dose to 1 Candex in the early morning.

Update 5/11/14: I wrote this review, where I take on the 'science' behind Candex, over a year ago. Since then I've responded to most of the comments that followed. One Candex user even contacted Candex to get their response to my review. For those interested, you'll find Candex's response in the comment section (dated Dec 9, 2013) followed by my rebuttal (Dec 15). As the comments are getting repetitive and responding takes much time, now is a good time for me to get out. I've incorporated the best of the questions and comments into this review. So this will be my last post. Thanks to all who wrote. I wish I could do more to help.

I'm a scientist (molecular biology and biochemistry) and I looked into this product after a friend of mind took it and felt really awful. After looking into it my conclusion is: save your money, the 'scientific' claims of this product, that Candex's enzymes attack yeast cell walls, are just nonsense.

All the enzymes in Candex do is breakdown certain carbohydrates (like starch) into simpler sugars (like glucose) that yeast actually prefer to eat. In fact, most of the Candex enzymes can either be found naturally in yeast themselves or get added to yeast cultures by industry to help yeast grow so that yeast can make bread rise quicker or produce more alcohol -- details below. Yes, you read that correctly, industry uses enzymes like those found in Candex to grow yeast, not to kill them.

Moreover, the main enzyme found in Candex, cellulase (the suffix "-ase" denotes an enzyme), attacks a carbohydrate, called cellulose ("-ose" denotes the sugar), that isn't even a component of yeast cell walls.

This is the best product I have ever used. I was seeing results within a day or so of starting it. One way you can tell you have a bad yeast problem (candida) is look at your tongue. Is it coated with white? Then you have a yeast problem and possibly systemic. I am seeing some letup on serious breathing problems that I am having since starting this.

You have to take this on completely empty stomach and then wait a length of time. If you eat or have had a meal then you kill the impacts of how it can do. It is very strict on how you use this. It won't work if you have food in your stomach. Wait at least 2 hours or more after eating and that depends on how much you ate at a meal. I take mine during the night when I know I have an empty stomach and then very early morning and wait two hours. It is very strict and if you don't follow the rules on taking it, you botch the results and see no results. You have to plan how you take it but it is really worth the effort as results are very quick. It has a maintenance program of one pill a day but that could vary between the person and how bad the problem is. It also depends on how good the diet is. Some people have to stay on an anti-candida diet long term once the problem starts and that means, extremely low sugar foods allowed such as the diabetic controls, no fruit, nothing processed, real foods actually and real cooking from cookbooks. The book by William Crook, MD called the "Yeast Connection" is a good resource for the how to's of the anticandida diet for controlling yeast, but even with that something else is needed such as this incredible product, Candex. It is really an amazing product. Do the process correctly with it and you'll see results.
