Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com

This weak, 1991 remake of the French comedy La Chèvre stars Danny Glover as a detective who is sent to Mexico to find a businessman's daughter (Sheila Kelley) and who gets stuck with a hapless assistant (Martin Short). The film wears out its welcome very quickly, despite some passable physical comedy from Short. Both actors have made much better movies; don't be surprised if you can't make it through to the end of this one. --Tom Keogh

This has been my family's favorite comedy for years. Everything about it is simply top notch fun. Martin Short at his BEST!!! If anyone knows of an online petition to get this to DVD, let me know and I'm there!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best comedy of all time., September 22, 2005
This review is from: Pure Luck [VHS] (VHS Tape)
The editorial review by a past reviewer, who will be unnamed, couldn't be more inappropriately biased and wrong. Must've been on crack at the time. This movie is one of the all time best comedies ever. And best of all, the film is not lude or gross - it is a great movie that can enjoyed by everyone. I'm trying to figure out why this movie is not on DVD (at time of writing this review)? A few other good Martin Short comedies are "Clifford" and "Three Fugitives"... all family friendly.

It helps when you know Martin Short is a good guy in real life. I saw him interacting with fans at LAX airport, just after getting off our six hour flight... he was kind and genuine with the fans - despite their annoying and tactless approach.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pure Luck, October 15, 2005

Why isn't this on DVD yet!!!! This film has been one of my all time favorite comedies. I'll be waiting for the DVD release. Hopefully it will be soon. Martin Short is just perfect for this role. And poor Danny Glover. You could just imagine being in his character's shoes.
