This sugar is out of this world. I will always have some on hand from now on. The wonderful maple flavor is so natural and aromatic. I just substitute it for part of regular or brown sugar in any recipe. It is also incredible for "dusting" the tops of pies, scones and cookies. This is a fabulous product, I highly recommend if you love baking or just want to be more conscious about using highest quality ingredients. You might as well buy two pounds straight away, it's that good.

Really liked the maple sugar at a reasonable price. Packaging could be improved with resealable bags.

I sent this to my daughter because her son has autism and ADHD and cannot tolerate sugar or high fructose corn syrup. She really liked it, and the kids liked it. I only wish it were more readily available and not so expensive. It is a good product, and she doesn't have to use much of it to have a nice sweet taste. She doesn't use it all the time but for a treat it is nice.

...the sugar content of maple sap is very low, therefore it takes a LOT of sap to make one gallon of syrup (something like 50 to 1). Maple sugar is a further distillation of this very labor-intensive process; hence, the cost. Like so many things, much of what you pay for is for labor...think about getting your car repaired. Real maple sugar will never be inexpensive, but it is a genuinely unique product for which there is no true substitute. To me, something as special as maple sugar--which is not used in great quantity like white cane sugar--is worth the higher price.

I cannot tolerate HFCS, artificial sweeteners or cane sugar. Maple sugar is therefore my only option for sweetening the herbal tea I drink constantly. This pure maple sugar is extremely refined and powdery. Don't get a spoonful in front of the fan or you will be breathing it in. The taste is very pleasant, and I absolutely love the smell. I understand that this type of sugar is expensive to refine, but I still wish it was a bit cheaper. However, for my particular needs, this is good stuff and I'll be buying it again.

I was debating giving it 4 stars simply because it is very sweet and the the consistency is very powdery. I went with 5 because it's a great sugar and in my experience with maple sugars is that they can tend be very sweet and sometimes powdery. It worked great for my applications so it gets 5 stars.

I'm not going to complain about the price, this is a good deal for a poud of maple sugar... maple addicts know that it's worth its weight to be sure. BUT, be aware that a pound is less than you think, volume-wise.... the package you'll receive is roughly a 6" square, about an inch and a half thick.

Although pricey, my husband cannot have processed sugar, and it's hard to find a really good tasting substitute for cooking and baking. This works well for reciepes that need a granular sweetner that stands up to heat.
