5.0 out of 5 stars Probably the best of the Pure Moods
I have to admit that at first I was a little critical of this CD, but after listening to the first two, I became more positive of Pure Moods. The Pure Moods I was erally good, Pure Moods II was okay, but Pure Moods III is the best in presenting some of the best music of the best New Age stars. Most of the music is from the newest releases of New Age performers, most...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Album, Not Best If Series Though
This collection of Pure Moods CDs started with this CD and was definitely good enough to justify the rest of the entries in the series. These CDs start by taking pop songs, remaking them into semi-new age songs and then collecting them with other new age songs. They're nice and relaxing and just edgy enough to keep mainstream folks interested. Out of the series I would...

5.0 out of 5 stars Probably the best of the Pure Moods, April 12, 2001

This review is from: Pure Moods, Vol. III (Audio CD)
I have to admit that at first I was a little critical of this CD, but after listening to the first two, I became more positive of Pure Moods. The Pure Moods I was erally good, Pure Moods II was okay, but Pure Moods III is the best in presenting some of the best music of the best New Age stars. Most of the music is from the newest releases of New Age performers, most being in the past 5 years, but even so, they still have old classics like "Cristifori's Dream", "Merry, Christmas Mr. Lawrence", and "The Velocity of Love". What I found to be especially amusing about this compilation is it begins with Enya, the New Age "goddess", and Sarah Brightman, "The Angel of Music". Sarah Brightman has done very well lately in the New Age genre, her beautiful voice never lets her down. Enya has been around for more than 10 years, and "Only If", reminds us that she will not go away soon. I might as well give a special compliment to each song. Moby's "Porcelain", which I've heard in commercails, has very amusing electric sounds. Mono sings sweetly in "Life With Mono". Peter Gabriel has been an important figure in New Age and Pop with Real World Records(good thing the makers of this CD included several Real World artsits). David Lanz's "Cristifori's Dream", not only is my favorite on this album, but brings great honor to the beautiful piano and its inventor. Another song by Geoffrey Oryema, "Land of Anaka", is included. Like "Makambo", its from his most well known album, "Exile". Sacred Spirit made a second album and Pure Moods III includes another one of their Native American interpretations. "Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence", carries the same oriental moods of "The Last Emperor". "The Velocity of Love", is one of the best examples of the great keyboardist Suzanne Ciani. "Ever So Lonely" by Shiela Chandra is an example of the unique sounds of New Age. "Virtue" by Jesse Cook, is so reflective, lovely, and fun, just like Ottmar Liebert. The beautiful "Silk Road" by Kitaro, who recently won a grammy, is very peaceful and serene. Even though I've heard and seen much of Blue Man Group and commercials, I enjoyed the sophisticated sounds of "Synaesthetic". Yanni's "Sacred Ground", comes from his more recent "If I Could Tell You", and has many layered sounds and vocals, along with some electric sounds, making it a little different from his previous works. Once again, Pure Mods includes the great band, Enigma, with "Gravity of Love", from "Screen Door Behind The Mirror". I love the classical, opera background of the music. Finally, there is "Deliver Me", from Sarah Brightman's well known, "Eden". This song combines pop, new age, and gospel influence. I can safely say this album is worth listening too, and it shows the best of New Age today. If they make a Pure Moods IV, I hope it well include some older New Age wonders, like Mannhiem Steamroller and George Winston. For now, we have the music of today for our ears.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stunningly Beautiful, February 7, 2001
By
This review is from: Pure Moods, Vol. III (Audio CD)
I bought this cd weeks advanced through the telephone after seeing an ad on television for this cd. It was definitely worth the money I paid to have it sent to me first class. Although I do have some of the songs on the cd (Moby's "Porcelain, Sarah Brightman's "Deliver Me", Mono's "Life in Mono", Enya's "Only If" and Enigma's "Gravity of Love") the cd is excellent. One of my personal favorite tracks is "Christphori's Dream" by David Lanz. The melody is fantastic as is the piano playing. Suzanne Ciani's "Velocity of Love" is also another fave. Believe it or not I actually like Yanni's "On Sacred Ground" considering the fact that I don't particularly care for his music. The third volume in the Pure Moods series definitely outranks the other two as my very favorite. I was definitely not disappointed in this cd.

5.0 out of 5 stars Enigma, Moby, Sarah Brightman ... I'm in awe!!!, February 19, 2001

This review is from: Pure Moods, Vol. III (Audio CD)
I am a big fan of the Pure Moods series, although I thought Pure Moods II couldn't live up to the beauty and enchantment of Pure Moods I, but Pure Moods III returns to basics with a presentation of some of best newage, instrumental and world music artists.

There are the stand alone epic tracks which include the haunting "Porcelain" by Moby, the etherial "Life in Mono" by Mono, the thematic and sensual "Gravity of Love" by Enigma which is easily my favorite track on here, and the inspirational "Deliver Me" by the angelic Sarah brightman. And of course there are plently of beautiful instrumentals as well. I was even suprised to find that I thoroughly enjoyed the song "On Sacred Ground" by Yanni which isn't your typical Yanni either.

Over all it's an ecclectic and diverse yet well blended mix of songs and I can't stress enough how good this cd really is. If you're looking for a relaxing yet soulfull and moving cd that will take your mind to another place, I recommend you buy PURE MOODS at once!

What's especially cool is that inside the booklet it gives you names and cd covers of the albums which each song was taken from so you can easily find and purchase the albums by the artists featured on here. And believe me, when you listen to this you'll find yourself wanting to buy more music from some of these artists like Enya, Enigma, Yanni and Sarah Brightman.

So what are you waiting for? Buy it right now - you won't regret it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great addition to the Pure Moods family!, March 27, 2001

What can I say? The Pure Moods series has always had a knack for blending the best music pieces from around the world, and bringing them all together on one awesome disc.

This album features an impressive array of world encompassing songs, such as Enya's "Only if," as well as Native American music such as Sacred Spirit's "Dela Dela." Some songs like Kitaro's "Silk Road" even blend in a sound of the orient into this wonderous album.

One of the best features of this album is that it gives you such a wide range of musical items to chose from, and if you like a certain artist or song, the booklet included gives you all of the information you need to find out what original album/movie the song came from!

If you love New Age music, and if you love to listen to a broad variety of world music, you have to get this cd!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent compilation of many talents, February 21, 2001
This review is from: Pure Moods, Vol. III (Audio CD)
After owning Pure Moods I and II, I bought this cd at first sight, a little wary of being disappointed. But I wasn't! This compilation has a broad perspective for nearly everyone. There is a perfect balance between instrumental and vocal, meditative and upbeat, dark and uplifting. Even if there are a few songs you don't particularly enjoy, let this album broaden your musical tastes, as it most likely will. I recommend also using this cd as a base for exploring new artists; for example, I have grown to appreciate Enigma, Sarah Brightman, Moby, and many others whose music I might not have run across without the Pure Moods series. I enjoy this compilation even more than the other two, and I hope others continue to recognize the beauty of this album as well.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pure Moods 3: The best one yet!, May 25, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Pure Moods, Vol. III (Audio CD)
Although I have only heard the other two albums of Pure Moods, I still have to agree that this one is the best one ever. This is a blend of all types of beautiful music that can send out many different types of messeges. Whenever I need to relax or forget the stress of a bad day, I always turn to Pure Moods to help me forget about it. My personal favorite song is the theme from "Silk Road" by Kitaro. It always seems to takes me into a world of serenity, where nothing else seems to matter, except for this one moment you are expirencing. Some of my other favorites are: "Games Without Fronteirs," "Only If," "Porcelin," and "Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence." I wuld highly recommend this CD to anyone and everyone. It is the best out of all the other Pure Mood CD'S. Once you hear the songs, you'll never want to turn them off. Buy this CD and you WON'T regret your decision!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the Best in the New Age Genre, December 1, 2005
This review is from: Pure Moods, Vol. III (Audio CD)
Pure Moods: Vol. 3 is one of my favorite New Age CDs, which is such beautiful mix of sublime music from various artists. Suprisingly, the CD both energizes and calms.

Games Without Frontiers by Peter Gabriel has such a satisfying, mellow groove, yet it seems to take the spirit straight to higher plains. It's not only ear candy, but enhances altered states of consciousness.

On Sacred Ground is one of my favorite Yanni songs, and it's on here, too! All I can say is "major goosebumps." It's like being in the Universal Cathedral of Spirit and having God sing to you.

Diva Sarah Brightman adds her smooth soprano voice to the track called Deliver Me. It has a pop groove, but weaved into the background is the etheric keyboards that gives it that flavor that appeals to both the ear and the spirit. When I listen to this song, I feel my heart chakra just blow wide open, receiving the love that the Universe provides in abundance.

Dela Dela by Sacred Spirit starts off with a deep flute reminiscent of a Native American ceremony. Although a pop beat ensues, the song is still undergirded by the strings, which makes it feel orchestral, but very tribal. The tribal aspects is punctuated by what sounds like Native American chanting, but then the female lead takes over once again. It's a song that penetrates, daring you to look away...but you just can't. Then it segues back into the strings, which sucks you right back in to the groove.

The only song I'm not particularly crazy about is Enya's Only If; it's a good song, but so much of Enya's music is overplayed, especially for movie trailers and soundtracks.

This CD contains Christofori's Dream (the 1988 piano masterpiece) as well as songs by Moby, Brian Eno, Enigma, and others, for a total of 16 songs.

5.0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT!, July 23, 2001

This review is from: Pure Moods, Vol. III (Audio CD)
This is by far the best Pure Moods cd yet. It starts out with Enya's "Only If," Moby's "Porcelain," and Mono's "Life in Mono" to draw you in, then it keeps you there with such songs as "Dela Dela" by Sacred Spirit, "Merry Christmas, Mr Lawrence" by Ryuichi Sakamoto, "Gravity of Love," by Enigma, and "Deliver Me" by Sarah Brightman. The only major letdowns are "Land of Anaka," by Geoffrey Oryema, "Silk Road," by Kitaro, and "On Sacred Ground" by Yanni. Buy the cd, you won't be dissapointed.

This has got some great pieces of music old and new alike.

It is a great compilation and I conseider it to be one of the best yet.

If enough albums are released in this series such as pure moods volume 4 or maybe even volume 7 I could anticipate an album called "The best of Pure Moods" I could safely say that selections from this album would be included on it.

It has one of Enya's works on it and is already quite popular.

This has Moby's hit, Porcelain, It has Kitaro's classic, Silk Road.

This is one that you wouldn't want to miss.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great mix, February 20, 2001

This review is from: Pure Moods, Vol. III (Audio CD)
This was a great combination of new age and instrumental, and the pieces seemed to flow well. Enjoy this CD very much as it includes some of the best pieces by various accomplished artists. Enough energy without being bombastic or overly loud balanced against such beautiful pieces like Kitaro's Silk Road and David Lanz Christofori's Dream.
