3.0 out of 5 stars Classical tradtion meets new age tradtion
If you love classical music then Tesh's reproduction of various new age artists will sooth your soul just as well. The only thing I wish Tesh should have included should have been a concert hall sound because it sounds a little stiff and choppy with some songs. Overall it is an enjoyable and relaxing CD.

John Tesh is great. I enjoy this CD sooooooo much. This CD will keep the listener mellow and truely relaxed. I just can't quit playing it. Such variety of instruments. Thank you for one of my favorite CDs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pure Orchestra is nothing short of stunning!, January 21, 2001
This review is from: Pure Orchestra (Audio CD)
From the moment I put this album in my stereo, (a gift from my boyfriend), I was mesmerized. First of all, the sheer force of this 60-piece orchestra is stunning and beautiful. I especially love listening to it when I get up. There are songs by Enya, Yanni, Jim Brickman and even two new songs from John. I love the different textures that an orchestra has to offer, and on Pure Orchestra this ensemble pulls it off masterfully. Just wait till you hear Kitaro's "Silk Road"... It's Magnifique!

4.0 out of 5 stars Like taking a scented bath in sheer symphonic sound..., December 9, 2004
This review is from: Pure Orchestra (Audio CD)
This album comes in handy when you want to take a break from all those Mancini, Bacharach, John williams etc. reissues. The program is drawn from compositions of top New Age artists all arranged for a sixty piece orchestra. The arrangements are quite weighty for the most part with a lot of bravado during the big moments. Strings breeze from speaker to speaker, with glissening brass and horns throughout. Yanni, Chip Davis, and Tesh himself have all used orchestras extensively. Keep in mind
John Tesh does not perform on the album; he produces and had a hand in choosing the selections. One does not have to be a New Age fan to enjoy this disc; in fact I was not even familiar with most the compositions. When your in the mood for a semiclassical atmosphere this will fit the bill. Add a star if you think this album will inspire you to pursue more on the original artists.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love it!, January 27, 2001

What a surprise! I'm a new Tesh fan. I've always loved classical music and one day saw John Tesh playing piano on TV. I never realized how talented he was. My husband saw it too and happened to remember how much I enjoyed John's performance. So for Christmas, he gave me two of John's CD's, One World and Live at Red Rocks. I loved them so much that when I noticed this CD came out that I had to get it. What a beautiful collection of songs! I've never really been into the new age composers but have to admit that these arrangements are beautiful. I especially love the song Havana and Song for Jennifer. And the Enya songs are always familiar. I think they've been in several movies. The CD overall is a pleasure to listen to. As long as John keeps making beautiful music like this, I'll keep listening and buying it.

I wasn't as much a fan of John Tesh's as some of the other people on this CD (Yanni, Enya, Kitaro) but this record is something special. I have never felt so emotionally attached to a record. Having all of my favorite songs played by a wonderful orchestra on one record is something I have dreamed about and now here it is. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you John. You newest fan Barbara

Its all of the best of New Age Music, with songs by Yanni, Jim Brickman, Enya, and even two new tunes by John Tesh!! All richly done with a symphony orchestra!

5.0 out of 5 stars This album is a gorgeous orchestral work, January 23, 2001

I first heard John's music when he was composing tunes for the Tour de France. Suffice to say, I've been a "Teshhead" ever since. Let me get right to the point here. Pure Orchestra is a superb album by one of my favorite musicians. As many of you know (or soon will know) John Tesh is an extremely talented musician and here we find him collaborating with an equally talented 60 piece orchestra.

This album's got a bit of everything. The opening track, Enya's "Book of Days", floods your ears with beauty and emotion. Other gems are John's own "Song for Jennifer", Jim Brickman's "Angel Eyes" and Kitaro's "Silk Road" (probably my favorite one... it's mysterious!)

This album gives you almost one full hour to experience beautiful sweeping melodies in a whole new way; John's Tesh's latest is a top pick.
