Screen resolution is a piece of cake,
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars

Do not pay attention to the first reviewer. He doesn't know what he is talking about. The screen resolution can indeed be changed after playing through the first little tutorial I believe. Just change the resolution before you start playing your first level using the options. How hard can it be?
There have been so many people commenting on how beautiful the graphics are. Why in the world would they limit it to Starcraft like resolutions? Just buy the game if you are interested at all in this type, you won't regret it.

This games is a lot of head-banging, mud-slinging, rock `n roll, good old-fashioned fun. The graphics are cool (and quite good). And YES you can change the resolution! I tried it already (you just have to finish the tutorial first and then go to OPTIONS from main menu.)
The only negative of this game I can think of is its loading/saving times. For some reason when you start it up it goes through a process of saving/loading 4 or 5 times in a row each time for about a minute. It also took some 30 minutes to install. (But, hey, what can you expect from a game marketed (and done by) Disney? Some inelegant code will always be there.) I will say this, however; my computer IS NOT a slow junker: it's a 2.4GHz core 2 duo with winXP and 2GB RAM with a nVidia 8800GTX card and a 2ms monitor. Other games run like you wouldn't believe. Once this one's loaded, it runs well too, though. This game is tremendous fun (especially for the kiddies) and some adults who like a certain combination of mud and rock in their life (at least the VIRTUAL life.)

this game is so awsome!!! i know many people say that the load time is really bad... but i have dial-up...so waiting is in my nature:P plus it's only like 4 minutes! apearantly the people that said they never tried to download anything on dial-up>:(. (it takes forever!!!)
anyway:-|...the graphic are way more than amazing. the replay value is really good. the gamplay is a little hard to get used to...but with a gamepad it's as easy as pie. the music is epic! i love almost every song! the story isn't flawless...but it's good. and finnaly...the customization of the ATV's is awsome. now the bad news:'(:(:{ you can't make your own chariture...nore can you change the ones avabile. but i didn't really care about that. that is all... no more bad news:):)~ now if you don't get this game...you will really really really regret it... it's sooooooo awesome!!!...and really really fun! this is the best ATV/racing/trick based game i've ever played...and you are completely foolish if you don't get this game. ps. get it!!! i really mean it! NOW!!! click the "buy" button...quickly:)

Bought this game [...] and read some so-so reviews on it. It is very fun to play. It's easy to get used to once you figure out all the tricks and power boosts you can use.

A really fun game with nice graphics and yes the screen resolution is easily fixed I have the DVD version not that it makes a difference. I like everything about this game except the programming by Disney is HORRIBLE the game is glitchy like when you go to start a race the load screen is missing stuff...
Speaking of loading the load times on this game are PAINFULLY SLOW I literally can start the game walk out of my room all the way to my kitchen, open the fridge, think for a bit on what I want.. go get a glass or plate of whatever walk all the way back and its still not done.. My PC is no slug either... here's my specs: PROCESSOR: AMD Phenom II X4 Black Edition OC'd to 3.5GHz per core RAM: 4GB or Patriot PC6400 (800mhz) VIDEO CARD: EVGA GeForce 9800GTX+ 1GB DDR3 MOTHERBOARD: MSI 785GTM-E45 HDD: 1 WD 320GB caviar black <-- game is on this drive.....and 1 800GB Caviar Green storage drive I honestly don't see why this game takes so damn long to load all I know is that its so bad I almost don't want to even start the game sometimes.

I'm reviewing the pc version:
The gameplay is really fun. The graphics are really nice. The courses are well designed. The tricks are fun to pull off. But, The online mode is pretty bad. IF you can find a game to join, you will get in and realize there is no chat. No voice chat, nor text. Sometimes you get in a room and the game starts very quickly, not giving you the time to choose which atv you want to ride (which makes a gigantic difference). It recognizes my controller ok, and does vibration, but I have to program in the controls every time I play for some reason. I don't know if its only for my controller (ps2 adapter) or if it is like that for everyone. It won't let me save my controller settings. Its also quite short and the replay value isn't exactly high. Since the online mode is not very good, once you beat the game (quickly) there isn't a whole lot motivating you to play it. Its ok that its simple and quick, because I kind of like quick games sometimes, but it should give more reason to play once you beat it once. Maybe more rewards, or a good online or multiplayer mode. I also am not a big fan of the soundtrack, but thats more about personal preference. Hopefully they fix all these problems and improve on it and make a pure 2, because this game really is a fun racing game.

One of the best of road racers of last year. PC version of has extremely long load times unless you turn off the vsync. I got this game for[...] so I'm not complaining too much. Your best bet might be to buy the console version though.

Crazy long load times and some bugs in game,

This game is definitely a port over from the consoles. No optimaized for PCs hardly at all. Sometimes the load screen that shows the rider leaning up against the 4 wheeler will not show the black graphic around the edges and the loading "wheel". You have to quit out of the game and restart. Usually it will load correctly the next try.
The load screens like in the beginning of the game take several minutes. Then after you get past that, you select career mode, then incomming 2 or 3 more minutes of load time. I am running a rig that runs Fallout3, Call of Duty 4 and 5, smooth and loads fast. I did some research and apparently no patches are released, going on several months. I would be very disappointed, but I got this game crazy cheap and am thankful I did.

Game: Good - Disney: Stick with movies!,
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars

I have read some of the other complaints and they are valid to a degree. The game takes forever to install and sometimes takes forever to load. I have found that this happens due to processor inactivity for some reason. You would think that the game running would create enough activity but it doesn't. If you are there multitasking or tapping keys, then it loads faster. I actually did the dishes between track loads and it took 5 minutes to go back to the menu after a race. USB keyboards WILL work with this along with rumblepads. If you are racing with the keyboard, then good luck to you!
I could not get this to run on any 64-bit platform. Fortunately, there are no-dvd hacks that will allow it to run successfully. Sad that Disney can't get the game to run off the DVD correctly but some no-name cracker was able to get it going with little effort! The game is fun but any racer can complete it in no time. The tricks are fun as well but the key mapping doesn't work for the advanced tricks. My 5 and 7 year-olds love this game, as does this 35 year-old. I am not a big quad racer fan but this one goes above and beyond! Just be patient and look for the correct help. All will work out in the end! |
