5.0 out of 5 stars A luscious love affair with living foods January 18, 2011
By Deb

Natalia's _Pure Pleasures_ is as much a love story as it is a recipe book. Each page glows with the love she puts into her creations and the joy she gets out of them. And, luckily, we all get to share in the pleasures of this sweet, savory, and sometimes spicy, luscious love affair with living foods. :)

This recipe book is by far one of the most elegant, down-to-earth, well-organized, and easy-to-follow ones that I have come across in the raw food realm. (And, as a raw food enthusiast, I've been through my fair share!) The book is divided into ten sections (introduction, drinks, breakfasts, "small bites," salads, sauces, meals, treats, cakes, and resources), and each of these sections has a fun and personal introduction with mouth-watering, clear, and deliciously amazing recipes to follow. The recipes are as enjoyable to read and make as they are to eat! The best thing about Natalia's recipes (well, aside from the ultimate healthiness and superb taste factors) is that they use simple and basic ingredients, and not ones that require you to become a detective to find!

I also appreciated some of the more subtle details of her book. For example, each recipe has a consistent and organized presentation: creative title, personalized description, individualized recipe list for each component of the dish, detailed and clear instructions for preparing each of these individual components, instructions on how to assemble each of the components together, and an mmmm-inspiring, close-up glamor shot of the finished natural yumminess. And, the consistent color-coding throughout the book was natural candy for my, uh, organizational passions.

5.0 out of 5 stars In LOVE! February 22, 2011
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I only wish there were MORE recipes in this fabulously delicious recipe book! I have tried almost every recipe in it and they are so YUMMY! My husband is speechless when I make these and my 6 and 4 year olds love them too! My 1 year old even begged me for more when I made the luscious lemon cake :) (quick tip with raw recipes using coconut flour, let it SET overnight for best flavor... I started out not that excited about the lemon cake but when I gave it a try the next day I was in love :) I also love how the recipes are more in the "comfort food" style as I am new to the raw food world and I like the idea of healthy versions of my old favorites :) I have a tendency to change recipes about as I am adventurous with my food, and these recipes are a great diving board for new ideas and variations. There were several "firsts" with me including eggplant, and kale, things I never WANTED to touch but now that I have I can't get enough! I can't wait to see what Natalia comes up with next, and I am always keeping an eye out on her website and Facebook for her latest raw concoctions. She is also very personable ( chatting with her on Facebook) and on a totally unrelated note I like the fact that our Hubby's share the same first name! great buy and easy, fun, delicious, and leaves you wanting MORE!

My parents have also tried these recipes and my mom even commented that even though she was skeptical about raw food this book really got her enjoying the idea so much that she has decided to go 80% raw :)

my favs?
chive rangoon (raw food CAN be greasy!!) YUM
eggplant wraps: I had NEVER touched an eggplant before and THIS is probably the BEST meal I have ever eaten!!!
luscious lemon cake..decadent!
lavender lemonade...

5.0 out of 5 stars Truely a Pleasure June 1, 2011
Format:Paperback
This book is exactly what it says- Pure Pleasures. I have a shelf of raw cookbooks, but I always come back to this one. There are a variety of recipes that are simple to make and full of flavor. There are recipes that are filling and ready in a flash for days you cant wait to eat, along with recipes that make a dehydrator completely worthwhile. I like that Natalia's flavors stem from favorite comfort foods, and I love that I can eat them knowing they are healthy too. The recipes are very satsifying and make it easy to stay on track with a raw food diet.
There is a picture for every recipe, and the book goes beyond smoothies and salads. (A few are included, but they are exceptional)
My favorite recipes are the chive rangoons, heirloom tomato stacks, chocolate cherry truffles, and chai spice cheesecake.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of my all time favorite recipe books. February 17, 2012
By Miriam
Format:Paperback
This book has opened a whole new world of food for me.

I've always been curious about raw food, but many recipe books I've looked at were either too complicated, or not appealing enough for a true foodie.

Not so with this book!

I can't say enough good things. The pictures are gorgeous, the recipes are straight-forward/easy to follow, and most importantly, the food is *incredible.* Not only does it taste amazing, but it makes you feel fantastic, too.

Some of my favorites:

~Chocolate Silk Shake. "Luscious" is the best word to describe this. I've never tasted anything like it.
~Fruity Chia Pudding. I love having this for breakfast. It gives me so much energy.
~Chive Cream Cheese. The perfect dip for veggies and flax crackers. Such a treat.
~Sesame Ginger Lettuce Wraps. Tangy, sweet, sour, crunchy. A definite crowd pleaser. Everyone adores these.
~Seven Layer Taco Dip. I made four of the seven layers and wrapped them in lettuce. Best tacos ever!
~Vanilla Nut Butter. Absolutely heavenly. You can put this on so many things, or even just eat it by itself.
~Garden Herb Roll Ups. These taste like the kind of gourmet wraps you buy at a health food store. (Except better!)
~Fettuccine w/ Fresh Tomato and Herb Sauce. I love the hemp seeds on this - tastes like Parmasen cheese.
~Pretty Parfait. Blissful. Sweet, smooth, crunchy, fruity. Such a lovely combination of textures/flavors.
~Chocolate Mint Mousse Cake. I prefer to leave out the mint. This is the kind of chocolate cake you **DREAM** about.
~Luscious Lemon Layer Cake. Everything a lemon cake should be. Light, creamy, and "sunshine-y.
