Politically Charged UK82 Punk,
By Alex (L.A.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Pure Punk Rock (Audio CD)
A great politically charged band. Not as heavily political as CRASS, but great well thought out meaninful lyrics are there. Lots of anti-war protests that will surely change the minds of people who only like A//political bands to liking punk bands that are willing to make something happen too. If you think these types of bands are a waste of time you're wrong cos it may not be changing the world but it is changing people's attitudes. You first have to start with yourself. Skeptix are much like the Exploited. They are both in between the gap of Anarcho punk and Oi! like many other UK82 bands such as VICE SQUAD who don't believe in dividing apart. So if you're into the Exploited, the Skeptix are definately something you'll like.

I'm not sure why anyone would compare Skeptix to the Punkcore bands. The Skeptix are a great uk punk band from the 80's. you should listen to some of their songs before you decide that they suck, because listening to punkcore bands won't determine if you like them or not. I listen to skeptix but I hate the bands on the punkcore label. This is a great disc to pick up and shouldn't be overlooked by uk82 fans.

I liked this cd, provided me with a few hours of entertainment. Its definately one album they you may have a mid night craving to hear on a lonesome night. Oh and ya the comment of the exploited... get a life kid exploiteds first album was in 1981 "punks not dead" and I highly doubt the exploited is to blame for what punk is nowdays

"Punkcore" is redundant.,

This band is seriously worth a listen. It isn't AS conventional as most other Captain Oi! releases. Disregard the previous reviews.

Punk at its finest,

This is pure, aggressive, sing-a-long 80's Oi!/pogo/street punk. This group of spiky haired drunk punx influenced such great modern acts as The Casualties, The Krays, Endless Struggle and Funeral Dress, and if you don't know those guys maybe you should get them too. It is missing a few classics like any "best of" CD but its got most of the material from their early EPs so it's definitely worth a few bux. So get it! Cheers! !DrGuttrLuv!

i agree with pure what? it is true that the best of punk is dead and all we are left with are unoriginal and untalented copycats of the hard punk of the 80's. the skeptix are ok. but there is way better punk than this. listen to the old bands, the new punk bands of today butchered punk. we have bands like those beer soaked neanderthals the exploited to blame for what punk has become. Oi!

The Casualties. The Virus. A Global Threat. The new punk? Give me a break, this is more metal than it is punk. Street punk? Hardcore punk? THAT ISN'T PUNK! I'm not even going to bother redirecting these misguided fans. The only reason I gave this two stars was because they aren't quite as horrible as The Casualties, and the like. Punk is dead. Hardcore isn't, but punk is, face it. All you need to form a band like this is the ability to take a piss on a guitar and catch a cold, so you can lose your voice. Avoid this while you can.
