Nikos Stangos' poetry possesses the purity of Greek culture. It's a philosophical poetry, addressing the beautiful, the good and the true. The masterpiece of the collection is the last poem in the volume, Pure Reason, a poem Stangos dedicates to his lover famed novelist David Plante, also author of Becoming a Londoner, a Diary. Pure Reason is a love poem, its purity and simplicity heartrending. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves poetry. The companion piece to this poetry is David Plante's tribute to his lover Nikos, The Pure Lover, A Memoir of Grief, a stunning elegy, composed in prose but reads like poetry.

This book of beautifully written poems is complemented by original works
of art dedicated to a specific poem, by some of the major artists, both
American and British, working today.
