Book Description

When it turns out your ex was actually a sexy demon sent by the devil to seduce you to evil, you'd think the next guy, no matter what he's like, couldn't be a worse decision. Enter Father Marc Angeletti, a smooth talking piece of forbidden fruit with onyx eyes and a razor wit, and Riona Dade may as well start packing her luggage for damnation now. But come Hell or... well, Hell, Marc, Riona, and demigod Dee Zitka have a mission: serve as a Pure Soul and vanquish Lucifer's minion scum from the face of the Earth to protect humanity from evil.

Oh, and don't get seduced into sin yourself, because a fallen Pure Soul is one of Lucifer's biggest thrills. As long as Riona and Marc can keep things professional and north of the sheets, no problem, right?

Yeah, that worked out great in the Thornbirds, too...

Editorial Reviews

"This book grabbed me by the ovaries and had me at hello! McRae tells an awesome story of good vs. evil, a battle of wills, and defining morals all with a level of snark and sarcasm that makes me swoon." -Scanalicious Book Reviews

5.0 out of 5 stars Pure & Sinful November 12, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I was pulled into this book from the very first sentence! What an excellent start for any book, a laugh, and there was plenty more along the way. There's a touch of F/F action in here, but nothing that intense. It's actually a very sensual touch that gives off the feeling of giving in to temptation. Lots of fun, excitement, action, adventure and much more to be had within these pages; any paranormal reader out there will love Pure & Sinful!

Riona is a beautiful, smart and powerful woman that has been through a lot of odd, awkward and frightening experiences before finding out where she belongs. Finding out her super sexy ex was a demon sent to seduce her out of her light for the devil was just the icing on the cake. Partnered with two other pure souls, they embark on many missions' to help rid the earth of evil.

Temptation, love and sex are the main uses evil has in its arsenal to try and bring pure souls to its side. When it's learned that Riona has true love for another pure soul, all hell breaks loose (well an important part of hell comes forth) to get the devil's own mission accomplished. You see, the devil REALLY wants Riona's soul and is using his full arsenal to bait and trap Riona and the one she loves so he can bring them both back with him to the depths of hell, forever.

The thing I loved most about this book is there was not one single predictable thing that occurred. Everything was a surprise or a shock and I love surprises :)

4.0 out of 5 stars Original, Witty and Funny October 23, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
What a fantastic read!

I wasn't quite sure what to expect from this one. Honestly, the idea of a romance with a hot priest sounded a little bit cheesy to me. Boy, was I wrong! This book is clever and funny, has a great plot that moves along nicely, has an interesting cast of characters and I did not want to put it down.

Right from the beginning this book was immensely entertaining. The first line in the book?

"A priest, a witch and a demigod walk into a bar.

No joke."

What an opening line. And it only gets better from there. The descriptions in this book are hilarious and I can only imagine that the author keeps a notebook full of obscure and witty metaphors at the ready while writing. This one made me laugh out loud:

"God also gave hurricanes, earthquakes, plagues, and humans the ability to create disco. Clearly, the theory that all His gifts were good was one cup size short of a Kardashian."

The premise of this book is something completely original to me. I've read about angels and demons before, but nothing like this. Pure Souls are basically Gods warriors that protect the earth from Lucifer and his demons. Heaven and Hell and all their players (demons, angels, Lucifer, God, etc) are a big part of the world-building here but so, too, are Mount Olympus and characters from Greek mythology. One would think that these two belief systems are mutually exclusive but not so! The ideas of free-will and personal morality are dealt with in a way that ties everything together pretty seamlessly.

The characters here are amazing. Each and every one, from the three main characters to Jerry the demon, has their own unique personality in this book. There are no stereotypes.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sinfully Delicious September 7, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
To be completely honest, I avoid books and movies that are about demons (I do make an exception when it comes to watching Dean and Sam kick some serious demon butt every week on the tv show Supernatural. Damn, those boys are hot!), but I know that Killian is a fabulous writer so I wanted to check out Pure & Sinful and I'm really glad I did!

I never knew that I could find a demon sexy but apparently, it can happen!

The book is sexy, sexy, hot, hot! Did I mention that demons can be sexy? I did? Well, it deserves mentioning again ;)

It made me laugh...a lot. It also made me cry. And my jaw did least twice.

Read it!

Pure & Sinful was a book that I liked and enjoyed reading but just did not love. This novel focuses very much on the balance between good and evil and how those lines blur and it felt to me that much of the novel was very sexually driven.

The characters in Pure & Sinful were good, but I would not say that they were memorable. I liked them but there was nothing about them that made me go wow. Our main gal Riona is very spunky and the kind of character that can take care of herself. However she has the tendency to be annoying. Another character who annoyed me was Marc. Marc here is our forbidden love interest. I found it very hard to see what Riona saw in him, because all he did was make me crazy. Okay that is a bit of a lie, I saw what Riona liked in him, but for me he just still made me crazy despite that. My two favorite characters were Jerry and Ramiel. Both of them were just simply funny and had a very witty attitude. They also seemed the most real to me, which is funny because neither are human.

The plot in Pure & Sinful was very intriguing with numerous twists and turns. However, I also found it confusing at moments. There were times when it was hard to follow where it was going or why it was going there. The story does come together and everything does make sense, but there were moments I had to re-read in order to process. The book is written in the third person and we all know I really enjoy this writing style. The writing style allowed me to understand each and every character and to really see where they were coming from. However, it was sometimes confusing following the switch from one character to the next.

My biggest complaint with this book is that I felt all roads led to sex.

More About the Author

Killian McRae would tell you that she is a rather boring lass, an authoress whose characters' lives are so much more exciting than her own. She would be right. Sadly, this sarcastic lexophile leads a rather mundane existence in the San Francisco Bay Area. She once dreamed of being the female Indiana Jones, and to that end she earned a degree in Middle Eastern History from the University of Michigan. However, when she learned that real archaeologist spend more time lovingly removing dust with toothbrushes from shards of pottery than outrunning intriguing villains with exotic accents, she decided to become a writer instead. She writes across many genres, including science fiction, fantasy, romance, and historical fiction.
