5.0 out of 5 stars #1 Wedding Song
I used Pure Soul's, "We Must Be In Love" as my wedding song. It was beuatiful, and I don't think I could have chose a better song. As I entered the church to the sounds of "We Must Be In Love" the whole church was in tears...I have yet to find out if the whole church was crying after seeing me or was it the lyrics of the song. 3.0 out of 5 stars Soulful & Pure
This is a nice album. It's typical R&B, but still good. Good for more than just "the wedding song", several good tracks. Pure Soul was never En Vogue, SWV, Xscape, or (thank goodness) Destiny's Child, but they are some talented vocalists. And they're one of Washington, DC's few national artists. Producers include Teddy Riley and Rafael Saadiq. Booklet does not include...

When choosing this song and allowing my husband to intially hear it...he was not all that enthused with it...but on June 19, 2004...he was more enthused than I was. I received so many compliments on the song and how we used it. I recommend anyone with an outgoing spirit to use Pure Soul's, "We Must Be In Love" as there Wedding song....I guarantee you..that you, your husband, and your guest will be pleased!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars These Ladies deserve 5 stars!, October 8, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Pure Soul (Audio CD)
This black female R&B quartet already garnered quite some credibility with the release of their debut single "We Must Be In Love". With the release of their first full-length LP, Pure Soul (Kirstyn H., Keitha S., Heather P. and Shawn A.) have presented the world with three special things that can't be touched: Outstanding incredible voices, harmonizing together like angels, a loveliness which transcends all definitions of feminine beauty and four pairs of legs that could put any man's fantasy to the test. This album contains 12 great songs of extraordinary, clarity and excellence. The ladies do an equally remarkable job on songs like "Baby I'm Leaving" which borders on gospel sound. "I Feel Like Running" is a perfect blend of the psychodelic music of past decades with a '90's groove. The song starts off the same way Zhane's "Hey Mr. DJ Remix" which is a sample from the song. Pure Soul is without question one of the best R&B albums ever released. It's well written and well sung by these well-looking ladies. If you don't already own this album, I highly recommend you make this CD your next buy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Talent!, October 2, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Pure Soul (Audio CD)
The ladies of Pure Soul take your breath away. When you really think of Pure Soul and what it means, you think of real strings, real bass, real horns, real drums, real voices, all the things you can feel. The ladies of Pure Soul give their audiences what they've been missing. These are singers singing real songs in a non-protentious manner, with no artifice. Pure Soul consists of Keitha Shepperd, Kirstyn Hall, Heather Perkins and Washington DC based Shawn Allen. Their self-titled debut album delivers a healthy dose of old school soul and R&B from a woman's perspective. If you're looking for real songs sung by real women, then buy their CD, pop it in your stereo and let their sound take you into the next century. 12 strong songs prove that these ladies are well capable of handling different
tempos as well as divverse styles. On the song "I Feel Like Running" the ladies sing about being fed up with the world, running from all the pressures and just getting away with the one you love. "You Stay On My Mind" is an up-tempo, inspirational gospel-tinged song. "What Did We Do" candidly addresses the issue of what to do when things happen unexpectedly between two people and deals with the morning after. "Somethin' Bout The Way That You Do" showcases all four members' vocal abilities and is the kind of song that couples put on when they want to get in the mood. This song sings the praises of good love in the physical sense and contains an agile, jazzy, scatted vocal bridge which displays the versatality of the vocalists in the group. "Wait For You" is about the pressures of being a woman pursuing a career that takes her on the road. "Woman That I Am" is a declaration of independence and advises other women to know themselves and that their true strength lies within. "Wish You Were Here" centers around the former great love of your life and not being able to bear the thought of them being with someone else. This album demonstrates Pure Soul's ability to provide and maintain what the groove consumers are in search of. After hearing the ladies describe themselves, it's obvious they're each other's biggest supporters and fans. Kirstyn and Shawn are the highs, while Keitha and Heather are the lows. Shawn's voice is high and clear while Keitha can harmonize over anything. This is the kind of album you'll find yourself still listening to year after year. Make this one your next purchase!

5.0 out of 5 stars Only 1 album of Pure Soul, March 17, 2007

This review is from: Pure Soul (Audio CD)
That's very sad that Pure Soul only made 1 album and it's been 12 years I been looking forward to get their 2nd album. This album was made in 1995 and it's 2007 now. My very favorite song off this album is "I Want You Back" but I love the rest of the songs. I doubt the Pure Soul will be able to make a 2nd album that's pretty sad!! This is the best beautiful songs of Pure Soul wishing they would make 2nd album :-(

I haven't yet bought the cd, but I tell you, I only had to hear this group's version of "Stairway to Heaven" once to know that their album would be worth remembering. I caugt the single back in about '96 on an episode of BET's Video Soul and have never forgotten the beauty and power of their rendition. I only just now discovered who sang it, and I will be purchasing the cd!

5.0 out of 5 stars Pure Soul -- back and better than ever, May 1, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Pure Soul (Audio CD)
Pure Soul was a talented group, unfortunately, they disbanded. The lead singer (Shawn) is back, though, with a group called "Shades of Soul". This time a trio, backed by a local Baltimore, MD band called the G-Spot BAnd, Shades of Soul presents lyrical artistry far beyond the pablum heard on the radio today. I encourage anyone, everyone, who has never heard Pure Soul to get their CD to prepare them for the release Shades of Soul CD.

This album is a showcase of timeless talent. I have had the cd for over 4 years now but I listen to it regularly with my newer music. All I can say is THEY CAN REALLY SING and the production was wonderful. - X.M.
