5.0 out of 5 stars If only they all could be this good
There are a lot of average trance albums which are frustrating to buy simply because they only have 1 or 2 good tracks. Thankfully, this one isn't one of the bad ones. If you're into trance or just getting into it, this is one of the better trance albums out there since it comes with a variety of well-known artists that have a reputation for not being amateurs. 3.0 out of 5 stars Trance K-Tel style
This CD reminds me of disco-era K-Tel vinyl records. There are a bunch of slamming tracks here, but they're all cut down to the length of a 45 RPM single. The "louder is better" mastering is god-awful: it's the polar opposite of the tinny sound of, you guessed it, old K-Tel records. I can't quite hate it though; I was raised on AM-radio disco, and this CD...

I can't quite hate it though; I was raised on AM-radio disco, and this CD evokes a perverse nostalgia. It's trash, and I like it because it's trash. Of course I got it for dirt cheap, so I don't feel ripped off or anything.

Now, if you want the definitive introduction to contemporary trance, nothing beats Paul Oakenfold's Tranceport Vol. 1. But if you're deep enough into the genre to get a strange kick out of hearing it get the K-Tel treatment, then you just might enjoy this.

... Old trance songs that aren't even complete. Paul van Dyk - come on, it's a two year old song. Paul Oakenfold??? May as well buy his Tranceport CD because it runs laps around this P.O.S. What a terrible CD, reminds me of a Time Life compliation but worse! Every song is exactly 3:30 or 4:30...they stop suddenly just as they are getting good. And, they aren't even mixed...it should be called Pure Amatuer. This is my first AND last "Pure" anything cd...

5.0 out of 5 stars An Enjoyable Collection, December 26, 2007
By
This review is from: Pure Trance (Audio CD)
I recently bought another trance compilation and only downloaded two tracks into my music database. This trance compilation has all tracks that I like and some that feel very good to hear. The music does not get too intense, harsh, or out of control. The beats are interesting, pleasant, and danceable. The selections feel compatible with each other and form a relatively seamless larger music. Most have some singing and the ones that do not have rich synthesizer tones and patterns that are pleasant to hear. I have found it rare to enjoy every track in a compilation of any genre and was happy to have found this one. I feel it is representative of trance at its best. Perhaps the original CDs of the original artists may be better and the tracks are larger and more complete, but this still stands well on its own.

I've had this CD since 2003 when it come off the racks, and I'll will tell you there is nothing like it and for that price it's even better but there are some amazing DJs on this Album like Concept, Wavescope,M.O.R.P.H.,Jan Johnston ,Wavetraxx, and Cosmic Gate.

This Cd has many tracks that I like. All have good beats with melodic and harder style songs in equal amounts. This is definitley NOT a one hit wonder. If you've liked the overall trance genre of music, you will not at all be dissapointed. An oldie but a pretty goodie! Take a stab at it and buy it used if your skeptical but there is something for everyone on this cd for any trance listener

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome CD, October 20, 2004

The ATB mix on the CD leaves much to be desired, Tiesto did a far better job with the song. However the other tracks are excellent making the CD well worth the price.

1.0 out of 5 stars All the music sounds the same on this album., July 28, 2003

All the music sounds the same on this album. There isn't a whole lot of variety to it. It's pretty lame and boring. Why couldn't there been a better flow for the music's arrangement. If you're looking for a better alternative, I would try "Ultra Dance 2 - w/DJ Encore" or DJ Skribble.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow, now that's TRANCE!, April 11, 2003
This review is from: Pure Trance (Audio CD)
5 stars is just not enough, now that I discovered what could best be described as the most intense and most listenable Trance CD ever assembled. I own other Trance albums which were great like "Ultra Trance," "Trance Party," "This Is Trance," etc... but PURE TRANCE is so awesome! I cannot wait for #2 and hope that it will come soon. I also hope CDs do not waer out since this one has been in my car since I bought it, I hear new passages when playing it loud each time I am in the car! I mean how can you go wrong when for [$$] you get MOBY, TIESTO, OAKENFOLD, PAUL van DYK, ATB and all the others? These are the biggest names in Trance music today...highly recommend this one.
