I have *never* loved a shampoo this much - nor been willing to SPEND this much!,
By
This review is from: Pureology Anti-Fade Complex Hydrate Shampoo, 33.8 Ounce (Health and Beauty)
I'll admit it: what first sold me on Pureology products was the scent. I was having my hair styled, and the stylist used the product to wash my hair. It just smelled so clean and fresh that I was knocked over by sheer bliss! Then came the tingling, cooling, refreshing sensation spreading over my scalp. When my hair was finished being washed, it... well... felt CLEAN. It's a tough thing to describe, this feeling of "clean" because I had never really felt as though my hair was "unclean" after having washed it with other products, however, this was much different. My hair felt lighter and softer - even while it was still wet!
Naturally, because I was in a salon, I expected the shampoo to be pricey - and I wasn't at all wrong! But I felt like splurging, so I bought first the 10oz bottle, which was used by two people and still managed to last for almost 6 months. Why? Well because this shampoo is so concentrated that you honestly need to only use an amount about the size of a nickel - and that's for long hair! The conditioner didn't disappoint one iota, either. The same fresh feeling and clean scent dazzled me over that first six months and I felt my anxiety rise as the amount in the bottle became less and less. Fortunately, our next purchase of this shampoo was at an outlet store, so we got some pretty impressive savings on the BIG bottle - the 33.8oz as shown here, I believe. That has lasted us well over a year, again with two people using it. We're starting to run out, but we've still got enough to probably last another month or so. Now to kind of put this into a frame of reference... I am kind of a cheapskate. (If by "kind of" you mean "definitely".) I've used Suave salon knock-off products because they fit in my target price-range. I've refused to buy Pantene in the past because it was too expensive. For me to shell out this kind of money on shampoo is unheard-of, and if my poor mother only knew, she'd probably faint. That said... I firmly believe it's worth every single penny. My hair has never been more manageable or healthy. I tend to have what I refer to as "NASCAR hair" - meaning it gets bumps and ridges instead of any actual curl, and then those bumps and ridges separate out into entirely unattractive frizz-tastic flyaway split ends and generally projects this messy halo effect. With Pureology, I look infinitely more poised, polished, and presentable - no small feat! As an added bonus, I discovered in the shower one day that these products are vegan *and* not tested on animals! (Come on, you know you read in the shower too - I'm not a weirdo...) If you're at all reluctant about buying this shampoo, see if you can get your hands on some samples from somewhere. You're just not going to believe how awesome this stuff is until you use it. And you *should* use it.

Not the same product as before,

Warning to fans of Pureology -- the ingredients have changed dramatically since P & G purchased the company. The wonderful herbals are now way down on the list, and it's now harsh and smells like a cheaper product. It also takes more shampoo to get a lather. I know this because I keep a smaller old bottle to refill from the big size. I'm very disappointed to say: buyer beware.

First product that I've used that works consistently on my unruly hair. My hair is wavy and more frizzy than curly. I've tried just about every product out there and they usually work for a time or two and then don't work anymore. This has worked consistently for about 2 months now, and I don't even want to use anything else. Highly recommend this for people with trouble hair.

My haircutter said my curly, color-treated hair would benefit from shampoo with no sulfates: less color loss and frizz. Sodium lauryl/laureth sulfate make shampoos foam. And evidently they clean by stripping oils. Ooo, not good. I was willing to forego the foam.
But sulfate-free shampoos are hard to find. (Check salon shampoos - most have sulfates.) Those I did find smell like a bakery. No thanks, I'll eat my doughnut, not smear it on my head in the am. (Okay, I'll grant that eating doughnuts is probably worse for my hair overall than sulfate shampoos. But one thing at a time.) Pureology smells fresh and piney. Just a SMALL amount does it and it lathers very well. Seriously, squeeze the amount you're used to and you'll rinse til tomorrow. But the key: my demi-permanent grey-covering color HAS lasted longer AND I've experienced much less frizz. Is this the best sulfate-free shampoo out there? Are sulfate-free shampoos really needed? (Several Web sites will tell you it's a racket.) Is the silicone in it bad for you? Can't say. But given the pleasant scent, my results, and the size of this jug, I won't be shampoo shopping in 2008.

I received this product last Friday and love it. I have tinted hair. After washing my hair I had not received my conditioner yet so did use any. My hair was soft and beautiful. Thank you for the opportunity to enjoy this poduct.

My son and daughter-in-law left their shampoo. I tried it and just loved it. Now I ordered my own bottle. I have thin flat hair and it was hard to even curl with a curling iron. Now, after I use the shampoo, my hair has volume and it curls beautifully. I also really like the smell. This is the best shampoo I have ever used.

I bought this as a gift for my daughter-in-law. She loves it. It is a little pricey, so it was part of her Christmas. She has gorgeous hair, so I'm not sure how much difference it makes in the way her hair looks, but I don't have naturally beautiful hair, and it even made mine look better!

Yes, Purology is more expensive than other brands, but it lasts so long - almost 6 months - and works so well - very few Bad Hair Days - that the cost is more than justified.
This product is especially helpful if your hair has been colored or highlighted, if it's on the dry side (or if the winter weather has made it so), or if you have combo hair (dry hair but oily scalp). Finally, this $40 size bottle is a huge savings value. You get 4 times the ounces of the $20 bottle, but at only 2 times the cost. and you won't need to purchase again for almost 6 months. Definitely an excellent product!

I have fine, color-treated hair & this always gets my hair clean & smelling great. I've noticed a real change in my hair texture--it's softer, cleaner & hydrated. I will continue to use this over almost every other salon product out there.

Best shampoo for color treated hair.,

Pureology Hydrate ShampooThis is the best shampoo for color treated hair. I have tried many other name brand products that claim they are for color treated hair and was very disappointed with the quality and performance of the product. If you are paying Salon prices for hair color, you would want to preserve the color as well as prevent your hair from drying due to coloring. Pureology is the only product I will ever use and it is well worth the price.
