It's a MIXTAPE Yall!,

This review is from: Purfek Storm Mix Tape 2 (Audio CD)
Although this CD sounds like a detour from the usual Mobb Deep......DUHHH! It's a Mixtape-Style Album!!! Don't expect a mainstream-bound album here at all - P. SIEGAL!
It's gonna sound gritty and unpolished. Every artist has to come back to the roots of their art - the stuff they were into before hittin' mass appeal. MIXTAPE Before 911 is just that. Raw with Mobb Deep's unrehearsed flows with "DJ Premier" type cuts (a couple actually 'instrumental' on this CD). Ya'll know those Open Mic Ciphers you do at home on the weekends?....the same damn thing here. On that level - You will enjoy this. The Beats and Lyricism are pure Mixtape mode, but still quality. If Reviewer P. Siegel was thinkin' more open minded & less "DieHard", HE'D KNOW. Too opininated man.

I don't bump this on a regular, it's more like a tribute album for the West Coast. I like the first cut titled "Shed so many tears" and a couple of others but, that's it. Don't buy if you aren't a true "MOBB" fan.

This mixtape is classic. The sound blends Havoc's gritty production with west coast classic beats from the likes of 2pac and Snoop Dogg. Havoc and Prodigy deliver their best lyrics in years and prove that they can still hold their own after over 10 years in the game. Best tracks include "Know How To Get It", "Back Down" and "They Don't Want It".
Buy it if you love underground hip hop and the infamous Mobb Deep sound.

Prodigy & Havoc do what they always do with this one, create a classic. Most of the songs have west coast beats but they are tight ass songs and Hav & P don't disappoint as they never do. One of the best rap groups in the game and they prove it time and time again. Features a few of their infamous records cronies (Bandana, Illa Gee, Big Noyd, Littles, etc.), as well as a few cats from the west. Get this cd you'll be happy, they ain't no weak tracks on it at all.
