Listening to this music is like hearing sunset trying to translate its light to the eyes of a donkey. Or like a sad stone hustling pity at a mortuary. Or a waitress counting her tips at a bus-stop and sighing. This is music that risks a true human connection strangely.

I agree - this ain't tops Giant Sand - but oh! "Elevator Music" alone is worth the price of admission. Damn, Howe's gtr sounds like its being rammed through like 20 Big Muffs, one right after another. Ouch!

Noisier than later albums. Sort of has the feel of a practice session where they just happened to have the tape running. Definitely not one of their strongest.
