4.0 out of 5 stars A Great Message and Story!!!!
Purity Reigns is a wonderful story about a girl being pressured to take the next step in a relationship with a guy that she's been dating on and off for awhile. It shows how easy it is to get carried away and lose sight of your values. For girls who might've succumbed to the pressure, If I'd Only Known... by Edee Wilcox is a great story about getting your life back on...

3.0 out of 5 stars great book
My daughter is not an avid reader, but she started this book and could not put it down. Obviously the book teaches godly principles and keeps the reader totally engaged in the story. We are ordering all of Moore's books for our daughter to read---And they all get passed around to all teh junior high the girls at the international school here.

I have read the book,...

I have read the book, but my wife has looked it over and confirms that there is a strong moral message as well as being well written.

It shows how easy it is to get carried away and lose sight of your values. For girls who might've succumbed to the pressure, If I'd Only Known... by Edee Wilcox is a great story about getting your life back on track after taking a relationship a step too far. Both books share the heartache of being pressured. For Laurel, the struggle to not give in is the biggest obstacle. For the main character in If I'd Only Known..., it's getting over the mistake.

4.0 out of 5 stars I loved it!, February 22, 2008
This review is from: Purity Reigns (Laurel Shadrach Series, 1) (Paperback)
I like Laurel a lot. She's a great role model which is something not many Young adult novels have these days. She's a great Christian but I have to say the only thing I don't like about her: She's kind of self righteous. I mean she thinks her own friends are spoiled and kind of carries around a holier than thou attitude. Also, the author needs to research about gymnasts who want to be in the Olympics. I mean Laurel is 17 and hasn't even tried out for the national team before when gymnasts are considered too old after 18 and she also has time for regular school, friends and boyfriends. Serious gymnasts like Laurel is supposed to be are usually home schooled and spend at least 8 hours a day in the gym and most of the time they aren't allowed to have boyfriends since it's a big distraction, and colleges hardly recruit out of high schools but instead in national competitons. Other then when she's at practice Laurel doesn't even think about gymnastics instead she's worrying about her douchy boyfriend. I like this book don't get me wrong but the whole Laurel wants to be an Olympic gymnast thing was a bit fake.

4.0 out of 5 stars I love books that promote purity!!!!!, July 4, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Purity Reigns (Laurel Shadrach Series, 1) (Paperback)
Laurel Shadrach is a teen who is being pressure to take her relationship with her boyfriend to the next level. Because of her strong faith and reliance on God (she prays a lot!) and relationships with other adults, she works through her struggles. The reader gets to feel Laurel's pain and uncertainty with every prayer and conversation. Another book you might want to check out is If I'd Only Known... by Edee Wilcox. The main character doesn't seek God until after her decision of moving to the next level has been made, so it offers somewhat of a different perspective. Both books are quick to read and keep you interested.

A few of my friends read this book and thought it was wonderful, so I had to read it. Once I started, I couldn't put it down! This book is exciting to read, and also has extremely important life lessons behind it. And because it is told from a teenage girl's point of view, I can relate to it even more. I would recommend this Laurel Shadrach series to any girl. A+! :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful!, December 1, 2002
This review is from: Purity Reigns (Laurel Shadrach Series, 1) (Paperback)
"Purity Reigns" is an excellent book, and I love it! My father bought it for me because he realized how important the message was. This book is great, because it gives a realistic situation of a girl struggling with what God and the Bible require of her; peer pressure, and her own personal desires. It accurately portrays the life of a high school girl with a boyfriend who wants to take things further than she is ready for, and her friends who must face the consequences of their actions. This is a great book for teens and preteens, even if they aren't struggling with the battle of sexual purity. I definitely recommend this book to anyone, Christian or not, and give it five stars and two thumbs up!

This review is from: Purity Reigns (Laurel Shadrach Series, 1) (Paperback)
I borrowed this book from our church library thinking that it would be just another book that my daughter would not read. She can not put it down. It's amazing...she struggles with reading comprehension but not with this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Trust, January 31, 2007
This review is from: Purity Reigns (Laurel Shadrach Series, 1) (Paperback)
Purity Reigns is about trusting God and prayer. You have to believe God for whatever you need. Mrs. Moore also lets us know that sex is not the way to go.

Foster is a very good example of a good Christian. He is always there for Laurel whenever she is in trouble. Purity Reigns is a very good book. It touched my heart and my soul. I hope that Mrs. Moore continues to write more of these books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good, November 15, 2006
This review is from: Purity Reigns (Laurel Shadrach Series, 1) (Paperback)
I picked up this book and read it in 3 days. It was a wonderful story of a teenagers life and the things she faces!! I couldnt wait to get home from school just so I could pick up this book again. There was only one thing that I did not enjoy and that was Laurel finds the perfect man at the end of the story. He is so perfect that no other boy could ever conpare. I think the author should have been a little more realistic and guys. I do think that this is a book that every girl should read. It reminded me that I need to stay close to God no matter what.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Purity Reigns (Laurel Shadrach Series, 1) (Paperback)
This book was awesome. The typical teenage life of Laurel is easy to relate to. As she struggles with her faith, you learn with her. This book taught me new things about God. Even if you are not a Christian, I definately recommend it! The plot is good, and God just might tell you something. Read it today.
