5.0 out of 5 stars Facet Electric Fuel Pump, August 11, 2011
This review is from: Purolator 12s 12v Univ Fuel Pump 4-6psi
About 6 years ago I converted my Morgan 4/4 automobile from propane (which it had been converted to to pass US emissions) back to gasoline, so needed a fuel pump.

I purchased one of these Facet pumps and mounted it near the bottom of my new fuel tank.

The vehicle has been used only intermittently since then, and often sits for months to a year between uses, the worst thing you can do to a fuel pump. Yet the pump has always worked flawlessly, never missing a beat regardless of how long since its last use, or how spoiled the fuel has become.

Speaking of a "beat," the pump DOES make a reassuring clicking sound when operating that will tell you by its frequency when the carburetor is full, and the engine is ready to start, or even when you're OUT of fuel (or have a fuel leak). The sound becomes inaudible with the engine running, of course.

I am used to the Facet brand, as being an FAA licensed aircraft mechanic, Facet has been an OEM and after-market brand of choice for many years, and none of them ever failed me, either. I am sure these inexpensive automotive pumps are made to a less demanding standard, but they seem to do as well in their application as do their aircraft certified counterparts.

I am about to purchase another one for another collector car that sits extended periods, and whose mechanical counterpart at the engine loses prime after sitting any period and have expectation I will be as happy with the next as I was the last.
