Product Description

The appearance of PURPLE CAULIFLOWER is truly breathtaking. This Graffiti variety is the first PURPLE CAULIFLOWER of its size that actually retains its color when cooked. Wonderful when stir fried with garlic and ginger, GRAFFITI PURPLE CAULIFLOWER is at its best wehn quickly blanched, shocked with ice water and served as the show-stopping element in a cruidite platter. This lovely cauliflower would also make great pickles, since an acidic environment will help maintain the purple color. 80 days.

Cauliflower is recommended for a "Low Carb" diet!

Purple Cauliflower resulted from the discovery of a purpled coloured spontaneous mutant plant in a cauliflower field in the late eighties, and years of dedicated classical breeding at the research station "Danefeld" in Denmark. Purple Cauliflower is based on a very stable source of colour formation without the problems of previous varieties. It has been tested in many temperate and subtropical areas and proved itself to be adaptable and productive.

The purple colour is due to formation of anthocyanins also found in red cabbage and in red wine. The Danish Institute of Agricultural Sciences has carried out analyses showing that Purple Cauliflower contains approximately 200 times more anthocyanin than a white cauliflower exhibiting "pinking" but with exactly the same substances. Some scientists believe that anthocyanins are actually healthy compounds belonging to the group of phenolic antioxidants. Actually this is the reason why many doctors recommend drinking a glass of red wine every day....

My children and I ordered a selection of really fun seeds from you. (Hmong Red Cucumber
Black Sea Man Tomato, Rare Tigger Melon, Mexican Miniature Watermelon, Toga Striped Eggplant, Purple Cauliflower, Unwins Exhibiton 7 Pound Onion, Rare Red Bull Brussels Sprout)

My germination rate has been about 25% or less. All my other seeds from other companies are doing wonderful on my tables, but my Hirt's seeds are in a category of their own, small, stunted, wimpy, or not at all. I will not be ordering from you again, and I'm sorry I wasted my money.

The seeds were delivered quickly. They have not germinated, they have not sprouted in 3 weeks. I don't think I will have any purple cauliflower to eat. 40 seeds did not seem adequate. I would probably not buy from again. The purple carrot seeds I bought at the same time from a different seller DID germinate and are growing.

EDIT 2012: just revisiting my reviews and saw this. I never had one single purple cauliflower. Not even a seedling. Will think twice about buying seeds online again. They might not have been as fresh as they should have been.

As an organic grower and producer for local shops, I have to be careful with what I plant. I saw this unique crop and jumped at the chance. Good thing I checked it out more. First of all seeds from China are what I was sent. NOWHERE was it labeled they would come from China. When I received the seeds and noticed, I immediately called my USDA certified organic rep who told me to bring the seeds for inspection.
They immediately destroyed the seeds.

You are supposed to have a license to import seeds. I contacted the seller (Smile Seeds) to see if they had said permit, I have yet to receive a response.

Permits are required for the importation, transit, domestic movement and environmental release of Organisms that impact plants, and the importation and transit of Plants and Plant Products under authority of the Plant Protection and Honeybee Acts.

So now I am out the small money (who cares) but worse I have to hope no one near me plants those infested seeds.

Just 2 days after planting, half of my seeds have germinated. The tiny seedlings are a brilliant purple that is hard to imagine in an plant. Can't wait to see these mature.

The plants died immediately. Never developed a second set of leaves. I would expect more from these seeds. I am an experienced gardener and protected these seedlings inside the house.

These were the wrong seeds. They are fully mature and they are certainly Psc Choi. They look nothing like cauliflower. :(

No sprouts! I planted indoors waiting for seedlings that never came. Frustrated, I went to Home Depot bought some regular cauliflower seeds for a buck, and they sprang right up and are thriving. Waste of money. However, the "bonus" sunflower seeds they sent are doing great... Go figure
