A childhood dream come true!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Purple, Green and Yellow (Classic Munsch) (Library Binding)
Purple Green and Yellow takes us all back to the days of coloring and expressing our creativity in both acceptable and unacceptable ways. When Brigid exhausts her acceptable forms of free expression and ventures out to the wild side, the reader holds his/her breath while saying "Do it! Do it!' Although the readers knows her becoming invisible then re-coloring herself with the flesh colored marker are fanciful, it is delightful to consider and wonder - "What if?' As with all of Munsch's books the language is engaging and unforgettable. Who does not feel right there when they read and "cow plops that smell exactly like cow plops?" When I read this book aloud to my students they wail with laughter during the story and are often heard using his language structures in conversations and in their own written stroies. Robert Munsch is a master storyteller. This book happens to be one of my favorites because I never had the courage to color on the walls, etc. as a child but probably ached to do so. Through Brigid, Robert Munsch afforded me that opportunity. I would highly recommend his books. They are delightful and best enjoyed when read aloud because of his gift with language and dialogue.

Colorful and funny!,

This review is from: Purple, Green and Yellow (Classic Munsch) (Paperback)
This story begins with young Brigid's desire to have markers like all of her friends. Her anxious mother frets that Brigid will color on walls, floors, and herself. Brigid's plea is victorious when she makes her point for water color markers. "They wash off with just water...Get me some of those." She gets a box of 500 water color markers. Brigid soon grows bored and makes her case for getting markers that smell, and then finally a box of "super-indelible-never-come-off-till-you're-dead-and-maybe-even-later colouring markers." Then, bored with paper, she starts coloring her fingernails....Brigid is a colorful character who slips into coloring on herself, as many young children do. Adults may fret that this book may encourage children to draw on themselves, but this story is funny because of the unreal solution to the very real problem of children coloring on themselves. The children that I have read this to seem to get that this is the real point to this book. This book is for every child who has ever preferred markers to crayons or colored pencils, and then wandered away from their original purpose.

Amusing tale that entertains 4 and 5 year olds.,

I am a prekindergarten teacher. This book is a favorite of all of my students both boys and girls. Although the main character does lack manners when dealing with her mother, the story is very amusing and keeps children on the edge of their seat. My students giggle and luahg throughout the story. At the end of the story, they recognize the importance of following certain rules that their parents have set for them.

When we ordered this book we did not realize it was a micro version. I do not recall the ad stating that the book was a micro version. Needless to say we were extremely disappointed in this order. The ad should boldly state that this is not a regular bound book !

I love this story but when ordered did not realize this book was a microversion. Very disappointed with that. There was nothing in the ad that stated it was a mini version of the book. When I was gettng ready to throw out the box is when I found the book. It should be boldy stated that this a mini version of the book!!!!

Warning: this is a mini book, rather than full size format.,

I was surprised to open the box and find a 2 inch square book, instead of a full size paperback. I just checked the Amazon description section and it incorrectly says the book measures 9.9 x 4.9 x .4 inches. Evidently, "Annikins" in the item title means it's a mini book format but I was unfamiliar with this terminology. Know what you're getting!

Deceptively Tiny,
By
This review is from: Purple, Green and Yellow (Annikins) (Paperback)
This is such a fabulous story--I never connected that for the $1.50 price I paid for this version I would get a book that measures 3.25" x 3.25". SO disappointing. How hilarious to look and relook and recheck my packaging because the packaging slip said it was included. It was TAPED to a piece of cardboard.
NEXT TIME AMAZON, please include a measurement of mini-books AND link to a series of mini books. If size was listed and a link to other Lilliputian-sized books I would have gladly ordered more to even everything out.

Very Small,

Please read that this book is a micro-version of the original. I did not read that, I just saw where it said paperback and was very disappointed when it came as a gift for my daughter. Someday she might like the fact that it is a tiny version of a really good book. But today was not that day.

The PERFECT glossy oversized coffee table tome...,

...for your kid's doll house. If you don't believe me, you might want to read the product description before you buy, where it does indicate that the Annikins books are NOT enormous: "Annikins are mini books made especially for children -- small enough to fit into tiny hands and pockets. Each book measures 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" and contains full color pages." Actually, I very much appreciate how SMALL these books are: 1. Small kids like small things. 2. You can carry half a library in your pocket. Long car trip? Waiting for dinner to arrive in a restaurant? Doc's office behind schedule? These _extremely_ silly books are the perfect way to head off crankiness and whining. And for 2 dollars, what would one expect?

Best Munsch book ever,
This review is from: Purple, Green and Yellow (Annikins) (Paperback)
This is our favorite Munsch story and we likes us some Munsch in this family. I have read it to over 10 first grade classes and it always keeps their attention. Seriously, this is a cute story and the 4-8 year old crowd loves it.
