Book Description

The Purple Passport to Paris is the second in a newly launched series of eBook city guides by The Purple Passport . Essential reading for hip, discerning travelers and on-the-go locals, the guide provides insider tips on over 100 handpicked Paris venues, covering hotels, nightlife, restaurants, shopping, sights, and spas.

The carefully curated selection of venues runs the gamut from regal hotels swathed in Toile du Jouy to funky inns tucked away on narrow medieval streets; from chandeliered haute cuisine hot spots to tried-and-true neighborhood bistros; from classic couture flagships to edgy, hipster-approved boutiques; from world class exhibitions of antiquities and Old Masters to genre-bending modern art; and from gilded drinking salons where the upper crust sip with decorum to hopping boîtes where the model set preen and party. Organized by neighborhood for easy navigation, The Purple Passport to Paris also includes helpful maps and city-orienting info about transportation, customs, and seasonal highlights.

The Purple Passport team personally visits every spot that it reviews and never accepts compensation for featuring a venue on the site or in its eBooks. First-person accounts of the team's travel experiences can be found on the companion blog, The Diary of The Purple Passport.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not sure who is the audience for this guide series June 13, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
If you are wealthy or have saved up a bunch of money for your dream trip to Paris, then this might be the book for you.
If you consider yourself very trendy, chic, and/or fashionable, then this might be the book for you.

If you are traveling on a budget, then this is probably not the book for you unless you live to window shop.

I gave this book 2 stars instead of 3 because the maps were difficult to read.
I found some prices that have changed already, but I think that's unavoidable with guidebooks. Just a reminder to always verify prices.

2.0 out of 5 stars Guide is ok, some questions remain... August 6, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
The guide itself is OK. Offering acceptable bunch of information regarding the price.

On the downside I don't understand why some reviewers leave some overexcited reviews on this book since its not really a milestone in history as reviewers try to point out...

So I clicked on some of the overexcited reviews and was left wondering of the quality of those reviews...

Why is someone buying all the travel guides of this series and hurray's on every single book as he did just find live on mars?

Could be a wrong guess, but i expect some of the reviews are made up.

But judge on your own.

1.0 out of 5 stars Girl and shopping oriented shallow guide July 3, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The guide is too girlish and oriented more on shopping and main sites than providing tips for the more discerning travelers. Nice price though.

4.0 out of 5 stars Helpful for any traveler to Paris July 30, 2013

Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I reviewed it before and while I was in Paris this summer and found helpful hints in getting around the City of Lights. Best of all is just getting lost in Paris, which I did a lot of.

4.0 out of 5 stars Useful and well written April 24, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This provides useful information and wry--sometimes LOL--observations on the Parisians and their city. I recommend it for travelers to Paris.
