I was thinking how could he possibly top "Pages of Life". Although, it doesn't top it, this album does match it.

I am so blessed by Fred Hammond and RFC's powerful praise lyrics in songs like "Thank You Lord for Being There", "You Are the Living Word" and "Willing to Follow You".

You can only write songs like this if you've been on your face before the Father. This modern day psalmist has an anointing to usher his listeners into the presence of God.

With songs like "Jesus Be a Fence", this album will have you shouting and praising in your car. It should have a label on it saying, "Danger: listening to this CD can be harmful to one's health while operating a motor vehicle."

Praise the Lord for this awesome CD!

I used to hear Hammond's music on gospel stations and ended up becoming a serious fan because the messages are straight from God to people and he's a fabulous musician, and decided to invest in his albums. I've heard people say they didn't care too much for his music. If you didn't like his previous work, 'Purpose By Design' will absolutely change your mind.

'Pages of Life' did however have more sermon-filled and scripture-filled songs. But it seems that 'Purpose By Design' was so good, that it didn't really need it, not to discredit 'Pages of Life' at all. The songs had lyrics that really impacted and made you understand. You can hear a song and almost automatically know which Bible verse it was inspired by. This is a consummate album filled with musicianship only Heaven can make, and the lyrics to match.

I couldn't stop myself from listening and singing to "When You Praise" and "You Are The Living Word" over and over. Those are the two that I think have impacted me the most on this album. The message from God is well received by both Christian and non-believers.

In the 1999 Grammys, Hammond and RFC were nominated for Pages of Life, but it went to Kirk Franklin and Nu Nation. As a big fan, I thought Hammond should've got it. But when the next Grammys arrive. Hammond can't be overlooked. God surely made Hammond's music very powerful. Buy it now.

This cd is one the most intelligently produced gospel cds.Why you ask? Well Brother Hammond seems to have covered all of the soul genres on this album.For example the track I PRESS is nothing short of a "get your holy dance on " track that dares the listener to sit still.The track CLEAN HEART is so honest and short of a desperate plea from a saint askig the Lord to search them and discard anything that would keep them away from God. MY FATHER WAS/IS is just lush, heartfelt and orchestrally magnificently done,RFC shows that they can sing as soft as baby's breathe when needed on this track. Over all, this cd is NOT to be compared to PAGES OF LIFE because it is a different time in both Brother Hammonds life and really the Body's life too.As Fred came to master urban P&W(PAGES),so did we.Now with PURPOSE, Brother Hammond is perfecting it as he is being perfected......and pretty much, so are we. So please stop comparing apples to oranges and just let the Holy Spirit usher you into another era with another masterpiece. NUFF SAID!

After declaring I'm NOT a Fred Hammond fan, I've just counted all his albums in my collection! Let's say subconsciously, I'm just drawn the the Word.

I see Fred and RFC have decided to prove just how limitless God is! We've just come out of recovery from Pages of Life and then WHAM! Purpose By Design knocks us into another spiritual realm, deeper than ever before.

The level of ministry, healing and deliverance is intense, but you're also able to relate to it. This album is a practical and involved expression of life with Jesus Christ. The lyrical content stimulates the intellect and envelopes the heart, offering you a God who just wants to be in your life now, so you can be with Him forever.

The musicianship surpasses previous albums (and how we waxed lyrical about those! ). Having seen Fred live, his energy and control pervade the each song making it an album to satisfy the soul.

WHEN WE PRAISE was the first to hit #1, but that's now given way to YOU ARE THE LIVING WORD. The song is so, so, full of ultimate praise and there is so much power in the song - God must have been made to love us all over again when He heard that one!

Purpose By Design is just so personal and up in your life. Fred, you're really fulfilling God's call - don't stop. How are we going to cope with the singing and music in heaven? I think my jaw will be trailing on the streets of gold for the first one million years!

Fred Hammond is truly gifted and annointed . "Purpose By Design" - just as "Spirit of David" and "Pages of Life" is a collection of Godly inspired music everyone should have in their collection. I also traveled and saw Fred live in St Louis- the show was just off the hook! If you are saddened, worried, afraid, or you just want to praise- any of his CD's are for you. From this new CD I have already fallen in love with "Thank You Lord", Jesus Be a Fence" and "You are the Living Word"- and I have only had the CD 4 days- and the kids are loving it too. May God continue to bless you Fred- and inspire you to great heights.

Truthfully, I did not like this album when I first heard it. There was not any sure blockbuster songs for me to stomp to. So it took me a long time to hear the messages that God wanted me to hear through this psalmist. But one day, I was really needing the comfort of the Lord and I put on this Cd, and now I don't know how I could have missed some of these anointed songs the first time I listened to it. Fred doesn't just play or sing, but Fred ministers, and I guess I just had to get into that frame of thinking. Songs like "My Father Was/Is", "Thank you Lord", and "You are the Living Word", leave you praising God all the way to work and back home. Now, he also can jam too. Songs like "I want my Destiny", Let me Praise you now", and the old school "Jesus be a fence", give you something to tap your feet at. I liked all of the songs, although some are better than others...but for the most part it is a wonderful album and an album worth getting. Although you may have to listen to it a few times to really appreciate it.

I cannot get over this CD. Fred Hammond has done it again. I am undeniable a fan but even if you're not, you will love this CD. Fred and RFC have definetly been in the prayer closet. There is an annointing on this CD like no other. I can't really say which are my favorites because they all minister in a unique and special way. What can I say.....just get it. Words can't express the spiritual connection that comes through the music on this album. To Mr. Hammond and RFC, thank you for being an instrument of praise that ushers us into the presence of the Lord. For putting into words what we've wanted to say but didn't quite know how. Thanks especially for #7, I Press and #10, Willing to Follow You.

This is one of the absolute best cd's Fred has ever made. When I found out that the cd was out I ran to the store and bought it. As soon as I got into the car I played it. The first song just hits you with the annointing of the Lord.

As I was driving down the road the annoiting on the cd made me want to stop the car and just praise God in the middle of the street. I have only had the cd for a week and through listening to the words of his songs my relationship with God has greatly increased. I love all of Fred's work and knew that this cd was a must have for my collection.

Fred Hammond and RFC are an awesome combination when it comes to song and the word of God. His songs speak a fresh word in the lives of those that will open their hearts and listen. You will never be the same once you sit down and listen, not hear but listen to the words of these songs on this cd. Your life will be changed for the better. When ever the enemy tries to get me down I just pop in the cd and my spirits are instanly lifted.

So I hope that you take the time and listen to the messesage that is in all of these songs they will truly bless you! Enjoy the cd.

I have every CD recorded and produced by Fred Hammond and this one is just as anointed. The more you listen to this recording the more you feel the LORD is in the place. Any one can be a singer, but not every one is not a worshipper.

I purchased Purpose By Design and I love it. Fred Hammond has exceeded every expectation I had. He has tapped into an area of true worship, which is not all about the beat but the sincerity of the heart. Truly, I bless God for such an artist such as Fred. He is not persuaded by the world but by the Spirit of Christ. To finally understand what God has called him to do, encourages us all to get in the place to allow God to give us a "Clean Heart"
