Handy and Inspiring,
This review is from: The Purpose-Driven Life Journal (Hardcover)
If you're a fan of the "Purpose Driven Life" series OR are simply searching for a good Christian journal to put your thoughts down and stimulate your spiritual thinking, consider this book. A few of the things I liked about it:
-there's plenty of space for writing down your thoughts -inspiring passages on most pages -decent questions to ponder I guess you could consider this as a kind of "workbook" too- not simply a place to jot down what's on your mind as the questions point you to specific areas. A decent little journal, I doubt most will be disappointed. Also recommend Finding Happiness in a Frustrating World to help get one's life goals on track.

This is the JOURNAL, not the BOOK,

My review somehow got deleted, so...second try.
I really liked this journal as a companion to the book. I spent many afternoons before work reading the book at Starbucks and taking notes in the journal. The journal gives enough space to write most days. Sometimes I did run out of pages, though. It's peppered with Bible verses from the day's lesson and key points to remember. At the end of each of the semi-blank pages is a prayer focussing on the main points. I found praying these helpful. All in all, worth the price I paid because it when I read the key points in the journal and took notes it helped to solidify the day's reading in my mind.

Breath of fresh air,

I am two days away from finishing this book and I think it is one of the most inspirational and practical books on how to live a life pleasing to God that I have ever read. It's changed my perspective on the Great Commission and my role in helping to save souls; it has inspired me and shown me how to be a better Christian; it's simply a great book and a great guide - - one I will refer to often. I highly recommend this book to new Christians and seasoned Christians who want a deeper walk with God Almighty - with the I Am That I Am.

This book is well designed, having space for me to add my own thoughts, beliefs and hopes. I learned from it. I highly recommend the journal that accompanies it.

Love this practical, no nonsense, easy to read, approach to revealing Christianity and Gods plan! My co worker asked if she could borrow my book when i was through, but i had to order her her own book, because i had highlighted almost every page of mine. we are both getting excited about the idea of teaching this book. This is a regular size hard back and not as easy to carry around as my smaller pocket size hardback.

LOVE, love, love this book! I had to buy it for every one and their moms. Such an inspiring book! Really points out the important things that matter in life. I can't really say on what this book will bring about as it will create a different meaning in every reader's life. All I can really say is that it's worth the read! One page a day... you can do it!

Why does religion require you to disengage your intellect?,
This review is from: The Purpose-Driven Life Journal (Hardcover)
While not an active church goer, I have a very committed spiritual practice. I read this book on the recommendation of Caleb Booker's blog, where it is given a big thumb's up. The basic premise is sound and the author makes a convincing case.
However, he really lost my attention when he made the statement to the effect that, prior to the "flood" in which Noah built his boat into which he stuffed squillions of animals ,IT HAD NEVER RAINED - EVER - SINCE LIFE BEGAN(emphasis added), because G*d made water percolate up through the ground to water the plants. Please... G*d gave us a brain and an intellect for us to use. This sort of stuff is as silly as am American pastor who was recently quoted as saying that if the book of Genesis was not literally true, then his christian faith meant nothing and would have to be abandoned. It seems strange to base one's spiritual, or in this case religious, practice on such shaky ground.

The journal for me is a must have when taking the 40 day journey. It kept my thoughts all together and allowed me to go back at different times to either clairify my feelings when I completed a later day or since I have completed my journey review and keep moving forward.
