5.0 out of 5 stars Thank God for these books!
Rick Warren's books have brought a new insight to my daily living. I am a Christian, but have been known to be "back-slidden." God truley does have a purpose for our lives and it is not to wonder around aimelessly from day to day. Rick Warren does a great job of spreading God's word. As a result, God blesses him with monetary bonuses. I have no doubt in my heart...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good For Christians Firmly In Scripture
If you're a Christian who is loyal to God's word, this book will not change your life. All we've ever needed is God's word. Rick Warren does offer plenty of good fodder for discussion, but much of the material consists of those principles most Christians should have a grip on by now. 3.0 out of 5 stars Good For Christians Firmly In Scripture, June 1, 2004

This review is from: The Purpose Driven Life Selected Thoughts and Scriptures for the Graduate (Hardcover)
If you're a Christian who is loyal to God's word, this book will not change your life. All we've ever needed is God's word. Rick Warren does offer plenty of good fodder for discussion, but much of the material consists of those principles most Christians should have a grip on by now. I honestly would be concerned for new Christians reading this book without having a strong Christian as a reading companion. Specifically, some of our fundamental belief concepts are addressed a little too lightly (salvation, Christ's crucifixion/sacrifice, the fact that we don't save people, et. al). As a tool for fellowship, this book accomplishes much. I do struggle with Pastor Warren's propensity for using so many different Bible versions. Although he contends that it makes the issues simpler, it certainly complicated things for me on occasion - especially those times when unrelated Scripture was used to make his point. The commercialism is troubling and disturbing. I personally don't have a problem with him making money for writing a book. However, this endeavor has expanded to the nth degree and he does push some product during the 40 Days of Purpose campaign. As Christians, though, we should focus on God's word and support any function that will ultimately glorify Him. I feel that is possible with this book. So, using discernment, you can make this book a blessing in your life for serving God. Those Christians with a solid relationship with our Father might find the book to be lacking more than your basic Scriptural observations, however. Read this with a good, Christian mentor, or read as a mentor for someone searching to discover or solidy their personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just read this book and see if it doesn't change your life!!, October 18, 2004
This review is from: The Purpose Driven Life Selected Thoughts and Scriptures for the Graduate (Hardcover)
Rick Warrens book has inspired chritians like me to once again get my focus back to where it belongs. As a christian you can easily slip back to your selfish world and find yourself deprressed and unhappy, the way you were before you became a christian. The book will open your heart and mind and get you to think about the BIGGER picture. Its all about Jesus in the end. The sooner we all realize that truth the easier we will start living a more meanignful life -- A life filled with purpose.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exactly the way it should be written, June 12, 2004
This review is from: The Purpose Driven Life Selected Thoughts and Scriptures for the Graduate (Hardcover)
This book carries on with the main driven purpose book and has many meaningful scriptures specifically for the graduate. I read several short verses when things are going bad at school and also when things are going very good in school. This book is about praising God and helpful advise on living a driven purpose life for God while in school.

5.0 out of 5 stars Get real, May 10, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: The Purpose Driven Life Selected Thoughts and Scriptures for the Graduate (Hardcover)
It may help for people to know who are reading these reviews that 90% of the proceeds go to charitable organizations. Rick Warren and his wife live on the remaining 10%. You all need to get a grip. These books are Scriptually sound.

4.0 out of 5 stars "Theologically sound, Bible based, well-organized", June 18, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: The Purpose Driven Life Selected Thoughts and Scriptures for the Graduate (Hardcover)
Despite what you may read, this, like all Warren's works, is theologically sound--it just may be too fundamentally Christian for many readers. The fault is not in the book.

As a book for graduates, this ranks right up there with "The Mizraim Principles" in what it can offer. Gee, I wish someone had given me these two books when I graduated...

1.0 out of 5 stars Warren has a Narrow View, June 7, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: The Purpose Driven Life Selected Thoughts and Scriptures for the Graduate (Hardcover)
I found this book to be offensive and narrow-minded. There was a generous sprinkling of bible verses throughout, unfortunately many of them were used out of context and without regard to historical and cultural significance.
It's pretty typical of the kind of garbage you'd expect from fundamentalists who have cornered the market on the word "Christian".

Sad, how very sad. What can we expect next from the Propose Driven ® Corporation? This enless propoganda to sell things is why I left Saddleback Church. Sad.

1.0 out of 5 stars A Waste of Money!, February 23, 2008
By
This review is from: The Purpose Driven Life Selected Thoughts and Scriptures for the Graduate (Hardcover)
I purchased this book for my son who will be graduating in June. I was stunned what I read. I promptly returned the book.
The author plugs in scripture to fit his method for selling a book.
His words are not what I taught my kids about religion. A waste of my time and money. I agree with another reviewer and feel that my son would of been amused at the writings.

This is the best book I ever read next to the Bible. Critics should look carefully and see not only how scripturally sound it is but how it has helped people. I think the other review is sad very sad.
