This light read is a well written description of what life aboard a cruise ship was like for one young man before mega-ships. The author weaves a tale around what we're lead to believe his life was like as a Purser aboard this vessel that plies the Caribbean from its Miami homeport; we see the outcome of his infatuation with a passenger early on, before he does, sadly, and we're left to ponder what might have been. Ahh, but what sweet memories...

More About the Author

Walter Aschiero was a McKnight scholar at Miami-Dade College. He later studied at the Universitá per Stranieri di Perugia with a scholarship from the Italian Ministry of Education, and at the American College of Greece in Athens. He speaks English, Italian, Spanish, Galician, Portuguese and Greek.

Shortly after graduating from college he joined the S.S. Norway as Assistant Purser with the idea of traveling for a couple of years, but the sea became his passion...

He began writing "The Purser" while serving aboard a small Finnish cruise ship in the Caribbean.

In addition to ships and the sea his interests include literature, mountaineering, martial arts, tournament poker, and a lifetime passion for the fine art of tea.


ESPAÑOL:
Walter Aschiero fue un becario McKnight en Miami-Dade College. Más tarde estudió en la Università per Stranieri di Perugia con una beca del Ministerio Italiano de Educación, y en el American College of Greece en Atenas. Habla castellano, inglés, italiano, gallego, portugués y griego.

Al acabar la carrera universitaria se enroló como Asistente de Sobrecargo en el S.S. Norway con la intención de viajar un par de años, pero el mar se convirtió en su pasión...

Comenzó a escribir "The Purser" abordo de un pequeño crucero finlandés en el Caribe.

Es aficionado al montañismo, las artes marciales, los torneos de póquer, el buen té, la literatura y la navegación.
