Book Description

Big-city Lawyer. Country Farmer.

In the normal course of events, their lives would never intersect...
But some accidents aren't meant to be avoided.

When attorney Reggie Meyers crashes into Dylan Monroe on the freeway, it makes a bad day even worse—or so she thinks until she discovers she’s the prey in the deadly hunt of an unknown killer. Now, trusting this man she hardly knows is Reggie’s best chance for survival. The problem? Reggie doesn’t trust anyone.

When Dylan catches a glimpse of Reggie’s ransacked apartment, his protective instincts kick in. He wants to help her, but she’s not inclined to believe a simple country farmer has what it takes. Reggie doesn’t realize Dylan knows a lot about hunting—and being hunted. He’s up for the task of trapping a killer, keeping Reggie safe, and winning her heart—if she’ll let him.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lillian has written a five-star story August 17, 2011
The ultimate test of a good novel is the story told, and Lillian Duncan created a powerful story with Pursued. First the attorney, Reggie (short for Regina) Meyers is in danger of losing her job because of a grammatical error on a contract.

At the airport on her way home, a woman accidentally whacks her in the head with luggage when she takes it from the carousel. Still dizzy from the blow, Reggie tries to weave her way through heavy traffic. She swerves to avoid a dog being chased by a child and an old pickup collides with her car.

She doesn't care how handsome the driver is, she's angry. Since her vehicle absorbed most of the impact, he offers to drive her home. After he uses some persuasion, she goes with him only to find the door to her home wide open, her apartment ransacked, trashed and the furniture slashed.

The owner of the pickup, Dylan Monroe, insists she can't stay in that apartment after such vandalism. The person might be a killer.

Thus begins the chase. Reggie is pursued by someone who is serious about killing her. She's shot at, her phone is bugged, and bombs are placed on her car.

Although Dylan just met her, he insists on protecting her. He takes her to his sister's house. When she's followed there, he moves her to his parents, then to a friend's place that is difficult to find and equipped with detection equipment.

It takes a while for Reggie to understand why Dylan wants to help. He's a committed Christian and feels it's his calling to do what he can for a person in need. Reggie, abandoned by her parents at a young age, is in need of someone who cares. She grew up in foster homes and knows little of committed love and devotion. She fights being attracted to Dylan because he's a farmer and she's an attorney.

The story is a great read, and that's why I give it five stars it deserves.

5.0 out of 5 stars Delightful! July 20, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
Reading "Pursued" was an absolute delight. I tend to be bogged down in deep, non-fiction books and often need something to lighten the mood. This was perfect! The tension was built beautifully. The romance was subtle and didn't make me squirm in my seat (something I DEEPLY appreciate). Lillian Duncan infuses her writing with her faith, but doesn't beat you over the head with it - it is like a perfect seasoning. The jokes made me laugh out loud, and Duncan's book made me think to pray. "Pursued" is an excellent adventure, keeping you on the edge of your seat while still giving you something to think and smile about. Bottom line: buy the book, lean back, and prepare to enjoy yourself.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fun Romp through Ohio (and PA and VA) July 17, 2011
Reggie Meyers is a high-powered lawyer, at least she wants to be. Right now she's an apprentice lawyer who has just bungled a big contract. And crashed her car into a farmer's pickup. And found her apartment trashed. Oh, and someone keeps shooting at her.

But the aforementioned pickup belongs to studly Dylan Monroe, who sneaks in some farming among some mysterious "other things." After driving her home and seeing her trashed apartment, he's not going to leave her alone until she's safe. And the way things are going, that might take a while.

Lillian Duncan's romantic suspense is a delightful romp through Ohio (and Pennsylvania and West Virginia.) Populated with interesting characters, a couple of running gags, and the steady drumbeat of suspense, it's an entertaining and quick read.

I'd tell you more, but I might have to kill you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pursued June 14, 2013
By Lady M
"Pursued" is a "great" book! Proverbs 16:33 says that even the events that seem "accidental" are really ordered by God. Lillian did an outstanding job of depicting how God works in the lives of people even when they don't realize it. This book was a perfect blend of God's providence, action, intrigue, redemption, and romance. This book will grab and hold your attention until the very last page. I would strongly encourage as many as possible to read this book, and give it as a gift to those you love.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pursued November 15, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This was a book that always popped up for me because of the other books I have purchased. I had never heard of Lillian Duncan before, and I wish I would have a long time ago. This was a wonderful story and exactly my favorite kind! Romantic suspense with a wonderful Christian message. Lillian introduced us to a cast full of wonderful memorable characters I will not forget anytime soon! What starts off as the worst day ever for attorney Regina Meyers may just end up being the best day she could have ever hoped for. Enter Dylan Monroe, a simple but amazingly handsome farmer. But can he be trusted? Read this book, you won't be disappointed! :)

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable November 16, 2011
Reggie's bad day just got a whole lot worse.

Reggie is certainly the most interesting lawyer I've had the pleasure of reading about. She had my sympathy from the very start of the book. First, she bungles an important contract, and then she's in a wreck in holiday traffic. Fortunately the man in the other car is Dylan Monroe. Dylan insists on driving her home. Once there, they find that Reggie's apartment has been ransacked. As if that weren't enough, when Dylan and Reggie come back to clean the apartment on the day after Thanksgiving, someone starts shooting at her. Dylan insists he can protect her, but Reggie has trust issues. Will she take a leap of faith and trust a man she's hardly knows?

Ms. Duncan really knows how to pace a good suspense. From the moment Reggie is in a wreck, her life becomes a series of life threatening incidents that kept me turning pages. I couldn't wait to see what would happen to Reggie and Dylan next. Even though the book was fast paced, Ms. Duncan worked in some slower moments that highlighted Dylan and Reggie's softer sides and allowed me to get to know them better. I particularly liked the scene when Dylan gave Reggie a tour of his hometown. I couldn't help but smile as Dylan described each of the buildings and the people who lived in them. I'm sure anyone who's ever lived in a small town will crack a smile when they come to that passage.

I also loved the way that Dylan witnessed to Reggie. Reggie grew up in foster care and doesn't trust or depend on anyone but herself, and she certainly doesn't have any faith in God. However, Dylan, his family, and friends slowly begin to change her mind. Dylan shared his faith with Reggie simply by living a life following Christ's example.
