I enyoyed the way the author followed the rebels from the capture of the mother ship, the escape of Diana and how they finally recaptured her. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoyed the movie.

5.0 out of 5 stars the hunt is on, November 27, 2011
back in the day this book was a great read..and you know what it still is.. if you liked the V saga this is a no brainer ..the story takes place right after V the final battle. Diana escapes..but her skyfighter stalls in space..the resistance captures her etc..
but relax, the story dosent end there... in fact the Hunt begins yet again on earth.. where Diana, is up to her old tricks..and some NEW ones...

featuring the characters from the V saga..The Pursuit of diana..is a must read...i remember having all the V books back in the day..they are well written and entertaining..

3.0 out of 5 stars The Final Battle Is Over - Or Is It?, July 11, 2008
This review is from: Pursuit of Diana (Paperback)
That question wasn't really answered, but I guess that would be okay since this book actually serves as the bridge between the mini-series and the proposed weekly series that was being developed when this was written.

The book picks up literally where The Final Battle left off - the rebels had taken over the Los Angeles mothership, deactivated the doomsday device with the help of the Starchild, and is enroute back to earth when their engines freeze over due to the strain of trying to get it out of earth's atmosphere as fast as possible when it was going to blow up. This presents a problem - for the rebels onboard and us as readers. Apparently there were areas on the ship in which the red dust did not contaminate, therefore there were pockets of visitors still alive yet isolated in certain areas via the main control room. Now, our rebels must go through and interview as many as they can to find technicians they can trust to work on the engines without the risk of sabotage. This task is as painstakingly boring for the reader as it is for the rebels doing these interviews. There's way too much attention drawn to each and every interviewee and about them being quaranteened and the humans having traces of the bacteria on them, so they had to be quaranteened before giving interviews and so on and so on. In other words, the book took way too long to get going. In fact, they spend a good third of the book just trying to get the dang thing started again!

However, once they do, they swing by and pick up Diana who nearly froze to death in her skyfighter that stalled on her in outerspace (some pursuit!) and return to their home planet to a throng of hostile people. The rebels (Mike and Julie and everyone else) are arrested the moment they touch down and deemed visitor sympathizers, Diana is suspiciously separated (and thus the real pursuit will eventually begin) and now out heroes must battle their own to become heroes again.

There were great moments in this book, like the realism of chaos happening in our streets now that the visitors were gone and the police and politicians were non-existant. And I especially liked the detail they drew to the actual process of thawing out all those people on the mothership that had been processed for food. In the television show, I think they forgot about all those people and left them there!

But there was one big hook that threw me off. All of the sudden, Diana was able to control everyone she converted through telepathy, apparently no matter how far she was from them, thus orchestrating her escape into the L.A. streets with very little regard for the red dust that was still in the air. I'll shrug my shoulders to that.

The book got off to a slow start, in my opinion, and had a few flaws which I mentioned, but I still enjoyed it. It had a lot of action in it and a fun rebel escape from the police. An entertaining book that I would recommend adding to your collection.
