Guitarist Mike Manne proves his strengths as a Blues guitarist, and Vocalist sounding like a young Peter Green.Of all the Blues Bands in the NYC area "Tiger Blues Band" is worth checking out.The 11 track CD finds the quartet romping thru a stellar of Blues standards,Mike Manne, and company breathe new fire into every track. Ringleader Mike Manne, really has a case of them Blues. His groups impetus for its first album was to show what the local boys could do with the works of the great ones-BBKing,Willie Dixon, and Robert Johnson among others.Tiger Blues Bands "Purveyor"supplies us with workman like examples that the groups name implies really packs a bite.Six minute workout on Willie Dixons "The Same Thing","Sweet Home Chicago" in obout 2 minutes on this version these Tigers roar."Hideaway" will have you packing your bags for a getaway. 4.0 out of 5 stars Tiger Blues Band-review-Big City Blues-Mark A. Cole-Dec 2001, January 20, 2002
This review is from: Purveyor (Audio CD)
Long Island Bluesman Mike Manne and his band Tiger blues Band is hot locally.Manne pushes his Fender and Gibson guitars, and carries the vocal load.Michael Manne shows his Blues axe adeptness, and the band is guilty of aiding and abeting him.Put the new Tiger blues Band platter on and sit back and relax for some New Yorker Blues.Deciding to do a batch of well chosen standards and covers,Manne and company do their best to set any place aflame.
