"Push Any Button" is a fleeting gem of an album. It zooms by in a mere 29 minutes but packs quite a punch in these 10 brilliant tracks. To date, this may be her most balanced recording. It's the kind of record you actually want to spend time with, reading the lyrics, discovering a new musical twist each time you listen to it. An easy favorite is "When I'm Alone" where she skews more commercial than she has in years and, surprisingly, it's a good thing. After a few listens the stand-out track becomes "When I See You in Dreams", a heartrending mid-tempo strange-ish ballad, of sorts, that is both meditatively warm and melancholy. The brevity of this record is actually one of its biggest strengths. There is no room given to filler material. Every word, every note, every chord change is purposeful and effective. I'm gonna go ahead and say this may be the closest thing to a "perfect" record I've heard in years.

Time to start digging, as Ms. Phillips would say. Dig deep into this wonderful long player. If you don't know Sam, I would say give a listen to what I assume is the single (If such things even matter these days), "When I'm Alone". It's a one-listen gooseflesh inducer that should open the door to the charms of this spunky set of songs. And if this is your first record of Sam's to delve into, well you have to go back and get The Indescribable Wow, one of the best albums of the 80's and then dig further into her wonderful world of music. Dig, baby, dig!

Any new music that Sam offers is a gift. This CD is quite fun; with lyrics that are not complicated. A fan since 1983; I am biased. Sam Phillips can do no wrong. My advice to EVERYONE is; if you have purchased a Sam Phillips CD--buy another one. If you have never purchased a Sam Phillips CD; then immediately INVESTIGATE this artist. 'PUSH ANY BUTTON'::::: PICK ANY CD--each release is unique. Hands down she is a living genius; unlike any other female artist. She stands alone.

Martinis & Bikinis, Cruel Inventions and (to a slightly lesser extent) Indescribable Wow, Zero! Zero! Zero!, The Turning and Recollection still stand as Sam/Leslie's best work, but Push Any Button is well worth getting. As L. E Johnson noted, there is a bit of 'sameness' in the album. Nonetheless, there are some really good tunes on Push Any Button, and it gives promise that Sam may be returning to producing phenomenal, lively pop music.

Earthy, intellectual, fun, sexy, spiritual, witty, offbeat and beautiful. If you've ever enjoyed the wondrous talents of Sam Phillips, you owe it to yourself to buy this neglected masterpiece. Hey, if you're any kind of fan of melodic pop and have not yet enjoyed her one-of-a-kind voice and brilliant songwriting, you need to buy this album. It's perfectly succinct, not a moment of filler -- I truly love every single song on this album, and how often can one say that?

This new CD has very entertaining melodical pop music from prolific singer-songwriter Sam Phillips. It's her 10th studio album titled 'Push Any Button' (10 brand new tracks). Indeed Sam Phillips has 10 great new tunes, press on any tune you'll hear quite melodical enjoyable pop music.

The track "Speaking Of Pictures" has a guitar sound reminiscent of the Eagles' "Hotel California" in some parts. Stand-outs/gems/my favourites are "All Over Me" (melodical indie-pop-rock sound), "When I'm Alone" (wonderful melody and vocals), "See You In Dreams" (great violin playing and melody), "Going" (beautiful orchestral base track, vocals and melody) and the sweet closing track "Can't See Straight".

Good tracks are "Speaking Of Pictures", "You Know I Won't" and "No Time Like Now" (great guitar chhords). Okay tracks are opening track "Pretty Time Bomb" (indie-pop-rock sound) & "Things I Shouldn't Have Told You".

On overall, prolific singer-songwriter Sam Phillips is on the roll in this new melodical pop album "Push Any Button". A highly recommended CD listening.

There isn't much more to say than this. I have followed Sam Phillips' music since she became Sam Phillips, and I have always suspected she was a genius. This album, 29 minutes of absolute perfection, confirms it. Each song is just the right length and perfectly constructed. Not a note, nor a word, is wasted. Just when I thought I'd heard everything, this gem blew me away. If the Beatles were one woman, they would be Sam Phillips. She is right up there with all the truly great singer-songwriter-musicians of the last 50 years.

Eclectic and eloquently done. Good disbursement of musical flavors intertwined throughout driven with little if any predictability. Rockabilly, country, folk, power pop and even baroque styles weave and excite the brain. She pushes pop to its outer limits with a most imaginative approach. Beatles overtones can be heard throughout but don't be fooled by that statement..the key word is "overtones".

Such imagination is sparse if it even exists anymore. Sam Phillips can be considered a pop genius so much so, that even Peter Holsapple can grab a few lessons here. Well done Sam.
