Push Comes To Shove has to be one of the best books I've read in a very long time! Its real life issues, believable characters, and its twist and turns, have you laughing, crying, and shaking your head. Oasis is a talented author who is destined for great things in the literary world. This book is going to put him where he needs to be--at the top.

Gotta make it do what it do..., March 19, 2009
This review is from: Push Comes To Shove (Paperback)
Greg "GP" Patterson is a dreamer with a wife, two kids, and a boatload of bills and responsibilities that have been shuffled one too many times. Hard times are breaking down his doors like a drug task force, his wife Kitchie is about fed up, and the kids are rapidly losing confidence in dad and his Street Prophet cartoon character. Jewels is his best friend and life jacket in all situations in betwixt her running credit card scams and the next illegal transaction she can get up in the mix with.
While handling their daily hustle, Kitchie and GP are caught up in an altercation that lands them in jail and their children in a foster home. Not just any foster home, but the foster home that GP grew up and was tortured in with his archenemy presiding there. Frantic with the realization that they are indeed helpless and unable to rescue their children, GP and Kitchie face uncomfortable encounters while incarcerated, as does the children facing bullies young and old. It's the good guys versus the bad guys from beginning to end with a mix of issues for everybody.
Oasis has painted a very realistic, emotionally-charged, and refreshing novel. I found it to be a great read that satisfied my thirst for a sincere and page-turning storyline. The characters are genuine and very enchanting. The overview is altogether addictive as it has you afraid to read the next page, but too scared not to proceed. I could actually visualize the characters and specifically could see Jewels being portrayed by none other than Queen Latifah. I commend the author for a job well done. An endearing storyline that was not saturated with sex, designer labels, profanity, or graphic murders. Push Comes to Shove evolves around disappointments, lost dreams, loyalty, responsibilities, sacrifices, genuine friendship, the evil of the world, and more than anything true love. Magnificente Oasis!!!

1 Step Forward, 3 Steps Back (token), November 13, 2008
This review is from: Push Comes To Shove (Paperback)
Push Comes To Shove is a heartwarming story that depicts nomatter how hard you try sometimes you can't get ahead. Greg Patterson is facing some hard times and the odds is stacked against him and his family with no way out. This story shows how a man and his wife is involved with a simple assault, but gets charged w/a robbery case. GP's children gets sent off to the same shelter that he grew up in and abused him as a child. The family is separated and broken financially, physically, and mentally. GP tries to get back everything he once had, but soon as he take one step forward, he's knocked back down 3. Jewels, GP's lesbian best friend, steps in to help save the day. Jewels getting money from a loan shark was the easy part, but getting robbed was hard and now GP is back to square one: GP is still looking at doing time, In debt, Homeless, trying to get children out of group home, and still broke. GP's see's the only way out is to do whatever's necessary and by any means to make everyone in his way pay the cost.
Push Comes To Shove was a heartfelt, and laugh out loud book that had it's tender moments. Oasis gives you the message that hard times will come and life will throw curve balls, but it's how you throw that curve ball back will keep you ahead in the game of life. This was a wonderful page turner and had me shouting, crying, laughing, and at the end saying what a entertaining, powerful, and wonderful read.
