Club Anthem....Period
One of the biggest club songs of all time. Clearly the lyrics for 'push it' are not meant to be pondered. Put the song on, get on the dancefloor, shake your booty, and "push it" real good! I have to worry for anyone that is confused about what 'push it' in this song actually means though....hmmm..

Pushing it to the extreme
Salt-N-Pepa was hailed in the '90s for their bold hip-hop style. Before rappers like TI sung of their "shawtys", Salt-N-Pepa was boldly sensual. One of their biggest songs was "Let's talk about sex." They were innovative,for their time,and in comparison for what passes as rap today.
"Push it" was one of their biggest hits. It has some lousy choruses of "oh baby baby" and "push it real good." Plus,there's heavy breathing,reminiscent of an obscene phone call. You never do find out what "pushing it" means,but apparently the person they're addressing it to is supposed to "push it real good!" It's an annoying song. There's nothing really musical about it. It pushes you... to change the radio station. |
