Overall Good Review of the Industry,

This review is from: Pushing the Envelope: The American Aircraft Industry (Paperback)
With respect and agreement with other reviewers comments on rotorcraft, the bulk of this work is focused on commercial and military aircraft development. Sections describing the trials and tribulations of firms such as Convair and deHavilland who sought to compete with Boeing, Douglas, and Lockheed are clearly well researched and offer useful insights. There is a lot of information in this work and it is clearly focused on these areas. If one is interested in why Convair failed with with 880 and 990 aircraft than they will find an explanation here. This is a good read for anyone seeking an detailed understanding of the evolution of American Aviation corporations in these areas.

Superficial,

This review is from: Pushing the Envelope: The American Aircraft Industry (Paperback)
In looking through the discussions of rotary-wing aircraft, the author's clearly superficial understanding of the subject mitigates against taking this book seriously. This book is not authoritative and thus not usable as a reliable reference or springboard for further study.
