This book became one of my son's favorites when he was about 2 years old and it's becoming one of my daughter's favorites now that she's 2. I love to read this story to them at bedtime because the rhythm of the words is calming to all of us. The pictures are detailed, life-like and beautiful. This book captures so well the sights and sounds of Christmas as seen and heard by an endearing housepet.

Captivating pictures and prose paint images of a silvery Christmas Eve seen from a pussycats' perspective. I read this book over and over at Christmas...with or without children to share it with me. But a Delight to Share!

My husband bought me this book for our first Christmas as a married couple, ten years ago. I have since shared it over and over again with not only my own three children, but also with my students, in middle school, no less. They love it. Yes, the text is simple. So what. It is lyrical and melodious, without forced rhymes. The words capture the curiosity and and wonder from a small animal's perspective, and the illustrations are magical. With all the commercialism that surrounds the holidays today, it is wonderful to have a simple story about the magic of the holidays. My three children, ages 8, 6 and 2, request it all the time. My 8year old even reads it to the other two. It has become a cherished tradition.

This book, more than any other I've read, completely captures all the sights, sounds, smells and traditions that we associate with Christmas. The writing style is wonderfully descriptive and calming. The illustrations are magnificent. My daughter received this book as a gift when she was 2 years old. She is now 7 and it is still one of our favorite bedtime stories. Although we are not cat-lovers in our family, we all still love this book!

I was an adult in my mid 40's when I bought this book for myself. I love cats and the artwork in this book is outstanding. I take it out every Christmas and it is fun to look throught and to put out as a Christmas decoration.

This is a beautifully illustrated, gentle and funny story about a family cat as she watches her human family prepare to celebrate Christmas. Any cat lover will appreciate the observant and lavishly colored illustrations of this mischevious feline: her unusual reaction to snow; having to be put out of the parlor so the humans can wrap gifts without her playful interferences; her fascination with the tree ornaments. It is an all-time favorite for our family.

Our family sets out A Pussycat's Christmas every year when dressing the house for the holidays. Last year our copy got dropped in a bucket of water. A calamity that required immediate purchase of another copy and express shipping.
It's a charming tale. The illustration is excellent. Especially if you have a "Pussycat" look-a-like as we do this little book will become a part of your Christmas too.

As usual, Margaret Wise Brown is as tuned in to animals as she is with children. She uses a kitten's viewpoint to describe the wonders of Christmas-sights, sounds, smells, and the way cats delight at playing with everything-wrappings, ribbons, ornaments, decorations. A beautiful, descriptive story.

Ann Mortimer's illustrations are outstanding. Margaret's word's capture "cat" PURR-fectly!

I love the way Margaret writes - I have MANY of her books.

For anyone who has a cat and Christmas: "...She went POUNCING around in it... and she ATE some it..." "... she waited for something to fall, ...to crash and to break" SO Cat!

This book is great fun to read outloud with kids listening!

Great Xmas book for the cat lover, and anyone who loves cat will recognize their cat and the Christmas tree.
