A kind of a sound that never fades..., December 27, 2004
This review is from: Put Some Style in It (Audio CD)
I gave this disc five stars simply because after owning it a month I can't stop playing it. It is corny/hypnotic in a peculiar sort of way. I keep picturing in my mind a traveling
salesman away from home after a day on the road. He's kicking back tired and weary, cocktail in hand, say on a Tuesday night.
In the 2 star hotel/motel lounge where he is staying theres' this B type lounge band playing snappy little tunes; as he drinks away another uneventful day.
The Lounge Brigade sets this mood perfectly and professionally.
They convey the idea of "Lets make a few extra bucks and have a good time doing it". The program has snappy little tunes that I can't get out of my head similar to elevator music, but with an atmospheric flair. The producers of this album were big fans of Enoch Light who did this kind of stuff back in the 60's, and some of those famed musicians appear here. This album is a hoot! It will be sure to draw attention at your next cocktail or dinner party. You'll love the tungue-in-cheek feel that you get from "Star Wars". You will be humming "Don't Speak","Where Its'At", and "Virtual Insanity" for weeks. So people let the Lounge Brigade and a highball help you drown away the day for ya! A toast to'em...
