Keeps Those Records On,
By Michael Kerner "Michael Kerner" (Brooklyn, New York U.S.A.) - See all my reviews (HALL OF FAME REVIEWER) (VINE VOICE)
This review is from: Put Your Records on (Audio CD)
The past few years really haven't brought much in the way of newer artists for the music industry that sound just simply fresh and soulful. What I like about Corrine Bailey Rae is her simplicity and tone with her music. It just feels beautiful and elequent with each tone on her breakout single, Put Your Records On, the second track from her debut album. The song is a delight to listen to. I like this song a whole lot because it isn't overconjured and it just is a great down to Earth song. I just really am expecting much more from this promising voice down the road. She sounds delightful.
Song: B+

Definitely a MUST BUY,

Corinne Bailey Rae reminds of the first time I heard the names Gabriella Anders and Nora Jones. It's as if I've been waiting for this album for years. Her silky, soulful, innocent voice takes us back to a time when music was expected to be enjoyed. Thank you Lady, for such beautiful music. Where the heck have you been hiding?

Great Soulful Singing,

As many haved explained, Ms. Rae has a supremely soulful and raw voice. It's really good stuff (especially if it's snowing and you've got a good book). Notice that reviewer, 'thayes' has rated almost all other CDs with horrible ratings. Mr. thayes seems like someone who missed the talent train and may be a bit bitter. It's pretty great stuff. I'd go for Corinne. If it means anything, she is a popular artist on the Barns and Noble speakers.

A New Star to Look Out For,

Corinne Bailey Rae is a rising star who I predict will go very far. Her sultry bluesy voice is extraordinary. Put Your Records On is an upbeat carefree type of song that sounds better each time I hear it.

in a world where many famous singers don't actually have much talent, Corinne Bailey Rae is a lovely addition to the music scene with her beautiful, unique and warm voice. It is so relaxing to listen to, and very carefree. This album is perfect for summer!

I love her music. However, I didn't realize until I got the CD that there are only two tracks on it. It was like getting an old 45 record or a demo tape.

WHERE'S the REST of the CD?....I was confused!,

When I first played the CD...I thought my CD player was broken...or that there was something wrong with this new CD! However, in checking the case a little closer, it said: QUOTE "2 track single, EXPECT TO PAY NO MORE THAN $2.00." Unquote
I paid three times that amount without being told I was getting 2 songs. That's not truthful advertising or honest pricing! I'm NOT disappointed in the singer, Ms. Corinne Bailey Rae, but I surely didn't realize I was paying that much for 2 teeny songs!! signed..."disappointed in the marketing!"

Didn't realize I was buying a "single" record album, but that's OK, it was worth it. The artist is new to me, and now I'm a fan, intend to purchase the entire album. If you like female vocalists, there is no doubt you will enjoy this one. She doesn't remind me of anyone, her voice and style are unique, pleasant, easy to listen to. The music captures you and won't let go. The recording quality is definitely high end audiophile sound. Highly recommended!

I understood this to be a 2 cd deal...when in fact it was 1 cd and a single with 1/2 songs included on the original cd. I paid $8 bucks for 1 song and was displeased to find that i could not return it as it had been opened. I like the artist so i didn't fuss but the set-up was shady..."buy these 2 for this deal" when in fact it was a one song deal. SUck!
