When folks like Paxton and Gorka recommend, I take notice. This one is right on.,

This review is from: Put the Big Stone Down (Audio CD)
Geoff Bartley seems to have a lot of well-known friends based on the accolades given to his music by the likes of Tom Paxton, John Gorka and David Wilcox. And rightfully so, based on my listening to this new CD - the first I've heard by this singer songwriter. Don't expect a melodic voice - that's not his style - but the witty lyrics on songs like "The Cat Song" (check out a sample) and some fine instrumental work on "Trickle Down" are standout tracks. It takes a few minutes to get used to Bartley's voice but then you settle in and all is well. The guy can write some nifty songs.
A nice discovery. Steve Ramm "Anything Phonographic" |
